I'm missing the allusion to Karl Rove. It might be my public school background or the helium dulling me, but then I have to believe that Karl spells it a space lot. :ycard

By the way, I missed a 12-14 pound lincod yesterday. I'm blaming it on the lack of a safety team. rofl

Gotta luv the Sultan of Smooth to come up with a jab like that.. rofl

You guys are the only ones who still remember David Blaine. TV is back to Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears, etc. coverage. ... David Blaine's safety divers. In every instance I got a blank stare. Then I said- "You know, the magician in the fishbowl from the TV show?" and some of them vaguely recall the event. Apnea had its 7 minutes of fame. Now back to Paris.

To make it short, i do not agree. Attitudes are formed of different opinions. Attitudes can be more or less present for a given individual at a given time.
The David Blaine show is one opinion that people form their attitude towards freediving of. That they do not think of freediving by themselves spontanuously doesn't mean that they to not associate different opinions with the topic as soon as it is mentioned to them. Also the fact that they do not remember David Blaine's name doesn't mean that they don't remember the event. I would't recognize the name of any of the participants in the Bog Snorkelling event in Great Britain but I do remember that the event took place (http://llanwrtyd-wells.powys.org.uk/bog.html BTW, quite funny) rofl

I think any light is good light. Tanya (I refer to her as if we have met FTF, but we have not) has done a great job getting into the minds of the masses.

Well actually I think Tanya Streeter and David Blaine portrayed the sport in two very different ways.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Its like I was telling a friend; There are people out there who only care about holding their breath. That's what they want to do with their time. That's what they think about all day long, that's what they do in their free time. David Blaine is an amazing man and an unparalleled magician and a darn good breath-holder too. But it was foolish, arrogant and out of step with success to try to come into the world of apnea thinking he was going to break the record, while undoing chains, cooking breakfast, and whatever else he had going on.

A seven minute breath-hold was amazing though. Just the same, there was no way he was going to do it under those circumstances. Even before he started I told my wife "there is absolutely no way." Then when he started struggling to right himself against the pull of the chains I proclaimed "it is over."

The guy already has super-hero status, why does he set himself up for failure?

Speaking of recreation through ridicule, oh Maestro of Slide.

You might want to think about a new safety team to help with that whole allusion chestnut. when safety is on the line theres no margin for redirection! {edited for edginess :)}

You know, I've never actually even seen a ling cod in person! My sources tell me this will soon be remedied.
