This belongs in the Wisconsin subforum, but there's no Beach Bar (Brats and Brauhaus) there.

I had one of the best weekends since moving to Chicago, as I got to hang out with Cigarlung, his very lovely wife, and fun daughter on Saturday! A great time with a great family! We started the day at Lincoln Park Zoo and saw the seals show off their pseudo bi-fin technique, as well as the oryx, camelids, monkeys, lion, and tiger. We also saw a mother duck and her little ducklings. We then wandered to Shedd Aquarium only to find it closed early for a private party (next time!) so we turned to the Field Museum instead, but I had to leave early to arrange for internet service in my new abode.

I got some great, free tips on freediving and suiting up! Not to mention, all kinds of stories about adventures all over the world.

This is the first time I have gotten to meet a DB personality and friend in "real life," and it was a spectacular treat. I hope to meet more of you in the future! Cheers to you all, and Cigarlung, thanks for sharing your weekend and family with me!

Nice one Maytag,
Thanks for telling us, its always good to meet people in person especially when we have been conversing for so long online.

That would be 47 degrees Centigrade to all you Yanks out there... In other words, Blowtorch hot!

My wife and I met Sands and friend a couple of years ago in the Maldives when she was working on a neighboring island trying to keep a massive construction project organized and we were on holiday..... There are even pictures on DB somewhere in the archives! and there was no beer in them! rofl

yeah no beer :friday what was that all qbout:: oh this bloody keyborqd::

I have to say Jeannette is pure class and it was my families honor and privilage to meet her in the Windy city. My family and myself had the best time of it and we can not say enough good things about her or the excitement we had. The cigar question is good strict training has prohibited me from partaking in any Rubustas , Churchills,or Partagas only having one Lung and being on 3 Liters of oxgen per nassal cannula for COPD tells me its time to clean my act up and to get in shape for Jons Freediveapooloza and see if I can hold by breath for 10 seconds excuse me now its time for another breathing treatment to clear out some of the tenacious sputum. Cheers

rofl Nope! Cigarlung's healthy habits puts me to shame! I eat oatmeal and green leafy items for most my meals but tend to my carb and carnivorous cravings every now and then. Spaghetti, bring your family to Chicago and try Chicago-style pizza!

How about freediveapalooza next year?

Island_Sands, would love to visit Dubai and all those camels. The hotter the better. As long as it's a dry heat... rofl When will you visit us? BTW, are you still going to dive the Natal sardine shoal this month?

Maytag is used to the humidity and temperature racing to see which one can hit 100 first. I remember it well from the summer I spent at Great Lakes (the navy Training Base north of Chicago) in WW II barracks without air conditioning. VERY unpleasant to say the lest.....
