Hey again guys

i am seeking advice again regards the different between carbon speargun and fiber glass speargun!

i know that Bleutec does GFN ( fiber glass) but i never tried one! are they anygood?

another thing. i have a salvimar voodoo open rail 115. I am using 7mm shaft. but not sure what would be the right length of rubber??

i am waiting for your advice guys thx alot!

Hi, ask Salvimar directly, they have excellent customer support.

The main difference would be weight, carbon fibres are more ridged & stronger than glass fibres so the gun can be made from less material.
Carbon is also bonded with epoxy resin & that is expensive.

Rubber length for the gun is about 65 cm if it is a continuous band.
2X the barrel length (115)=230 cm (because the band is doubled)
Divide by 3.5 (the stretch you want in a fully loaded gun)
Don't stretch much beyond 3.5 or you start losing power.

Never seen a fibre glass speargun - which seems surprising, given that it has been used in fishing rods for decades before carbon fibre. It'll be heavier than carbon - more inertia.

Foxfish - what is used to bond fibre glass, isn't that some kind of resin/epoxy too?

Polyester resin mainly .... fiberglass mat contains a styrene wax that allows the fibres to separate to form an irregular mass but epoxy does not dissolve the matt & is not suitable to use with fiberglass matting (although there are special styrene free materials available)
Epoxy is in effect a glue & bonds the carbon fibres to each other.

thx alot everyone, i have bought a carbon fiber Bleutec raptor so and i love it! i bought it second hand for a very very good price! the gun in a perfect condition, the only down hand is that the The surface finish achieved by the epoxy resin and it is a green color. which is i do not like. not sure if that can be sand off and put a layer of

Sounds like the epoxy has ben effected by the suns UV rays, I don't think you can sand it out but maybe if it is just on the surface?
lovely gun all the same!
You can use a wax to stop any more UV damage if you want.
