Hello everyone.

It's that time of year again where I start asking for volunteer helpers for DEMA.

You can read some of our previous threads on [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=61407"]DEMA 2005[/ame] and a group photo from [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=38988"]2003[/ame].

For those who don't know DEMA is one of the biggest trade diving shows.

As always we have two aspects to the booth. Firstly we do our usual onsite reporting in conjunction with DEMA and their PR company. Usually entails walking the show floor - meeting a lot of people, filing 3 or 4 news items a day and doing one 1000 word article by the end of the show. People get tons of time to themselves and there are plenty of parties to attend if that's your thing. Secondly we're going to be doing some bigger marketing this year and will be selling advertising and doing a lot more networking.

This year we're going to be in Orlando. Details below:

Show Details
URL: http://www.demashow.com
Dates: 8 - 11 November 2006
Location: Orange County, Orlando (USA) Convention Centre

As usual we're going to help foot some of the cost of the hotel. This year we're reducing costs and staying 2 blocks away from the convention centre so it will be very affordable.

As always you get a load of benefits from DB for coming along:
  • all entry costs will be paid for
  • block group bookings of hotel rooms
  • staff drinks most nights
  • staff dinner one evening
  • DB staff polo shirt
  • media passes
  • the opporunity to network with top people in the Diving industry.
This is the industry show to be at and well worth people attending.

If you are interested drop me an email at stephan.whelan@deeperblue.net and we'll add your name to the list.

Apologies - some confusion was caused by a stray paragraph but the show will be in Orlando this year!

The hotel we're looking to book in with is likely to cost about 115USD to stay 5 nights in (that's the reduce rate with DB funding part of the room cost). Two people to a room, although if people are willing to share up to 4 people (which isn't necessary) costs will go down even further!

Is that the nights of the seventh through the eleventh, or the eighth through the twelfth?

Stephan,

I'm up to it. Orlando is only about 3.5 hours away for me (plus my pal Mickey lives there)!!!

Jim

:)

Batray - it can be either. I will be there from Monday 6th - Sunday 12th so we can be flexible on when people arrive.

Jim - Brilliant! I'll email you some details.

Hi Stephan

I'm only about 16 hours away...in a jetliner...if I win the lotto, I'll see you guys there !! :D

Jim, please be sure to ask Mickey to send my best to Goofy!!
Enjoy!

Like Jeff I'm miles away, about 4000 actually. Been to Florida a few times and actually it's one of my favourite places in the world. Unfortunately just used up my travel allowance for 2006 as I'm just back from New York/Washington DC, etc.

Good luck to all who attend and if it's ever held nearer my home or I'm Stateside at the right time then I'll fight you all for the right to be first in the queue (thats a "line" to you yanks).

Best wishes:) .

Dave

OK, now all I have to do is call to get myself out of jury duty and I will be all set! Time to brush up on my journalism skills from college.......... :)

Jim

Yeah, all I have to do is get my hands on $600, more or less :crutch.

okdokey folks - emails are going to be on their way later today to all interested in helping out.

My dive partner and I are both interested and live in the area. Please email or pm me any details. I will log on tomorrow at work and read the whole post before I ask any dumb questions.

Thank you
