Guys!!!
Hell...I have been practising a lot this year..(fishing 4/5 times a week..:), and after a few good tips about good spots from the local heroes here, I have had my first encounters with dentex.:friday

But...it is probably due to getting a bit to excited they do not come close enough!!
It is like they see my eyes popping out, or feel my heart beat going up!!

The same thing happened with bass, after catching a few decent ones they seemed to like me more...

Strange....any suggestions, tricks?

Some spanish guy told me he used shells, scratching the rocks with a shell...Have tried it....nobody was impressed rofl

go early early in the morning, stop finning as soon as you can and glide. Drop down way back from where you need to be....cover the ground horizontally along the bottom....keep a good field of vision, wait above the thermocline...keep practicing. go everywhere trying different places.

don't let them hypnotize you, think peace.
take a chill pill.

Hey Johnny....was up...yep, can tell you, trying all that stuff, was in the water and it wasw still dark..hehehe, maybe I should try other places....a chill pill...:)

The thing is that they do notice me and come, but stay to far away....

But...patience is a virtue..:)

By the way..hope to see you soon...going to visit some friends in Rosas!!

cool, you still got my number...?..:friday

Dont' worry, Dutch: it's not you the problem, it's THEM. Dentex is the most difficult mediterranean fish, very hard to get close, cunning and suspicious. My advice is to follow Johnny's advice. Especially about making sounds (with the shells, ok, but also with you tongue and throat ("clop-clop" and "goo-goo").
Finally, the goledn rule. the cryptic, aenigmatic, mysterious advice of the oldest spearos: behave as if you too were a fish

by the way, I have been looking at this Italian video, from this Donati guy...about dentex, he makes it look very easy, thought there was no fish in Italy anymore...
