Hi guys,

i was surfing the web this morning to try and get an idea how deep freedivers have dived with specific fins.

I have three pairs of fins that i use

Sporasub cruise ( pool training mainly surface swim and for spearfishing if i have to do shore entries) maximum depth i have freedived with them 30m (scary since they feel powerless at that depth).

Gara 2000 HF - ( pool dynamics, spearfishing from boat) maximum depth 38m.

C4 Falcon 25 - ( Freedive, 42,7m)

Pottie.

of all the factors that affect your dives ,the brand of your equipment is probably the least important.
some freedivers have done constant weight dives to 90m (if not deeper ?) with plastic garas .
By the way ,doees someone here know with which type of fins did Pelizarri perform the deepest ever bi-fin dive ? was it carbon fins or plastic "working class" fins ?

Some information about deepest bi-fin dives are for example here: http://forums.deeperblue.com/specialist-advanced/71515-deepest-freedivers-world.html

Not mentioned directly in that thread, I believe, is Martin Stepanek's 79m CWT with short rubber bifins. I think Dave Mullins went with plastic Garas also pretty deep, but there are probably more such dives of people who otherwise dive deeper with mono's, and they do not bother speaking about it.

A friend of mine was using fibreglass fins a couple of years back and even made a mono fin using a combo of carbon fibre and fibre glass which kind of surprised us both when we used it for dynamics in the pool.

I think it was Mares fins, nice blue looking ones.

when you think about it the fin really isnt THAT important when you consider people are doing well over 70m+ with no fins at all (88m will T) but you will find that most of the deeper dives are done with mono now and if still with bifins thin carbon generally C4 at the moment.

Umberto's 80m dive was made with a Pair of C4 falcom 80's mounte in old OMER footpockets although they ha massive cressi stickers mounted on them (his major sponsor)

ihave to admit i have lost the love for bifins for deep diving compared with my mono or even no fins (great feeling) but if money was no object i think i'd go;

1x C4 81's

or Mtechniks carbon blades in Pathos fireblade pockets (or maybe the new OMER stingray pockets???)

but in reality as you have shown yourself pretty much anyfin will get you to over 30m so depending on what you want to do select the fins that suit your needs best.
