Hi all,
This is my first post and I just wanted to thank everyone for the information available on these forums.
I am new to the sport but have been surfing for over 17 years, so feel quite comfortable in the water (though mostly above the surface!). I am keen to get to know the area and where works best in particular conditions, and am considering joining the Exe club, all though the competition side of the sport does not really appeal to me.
It's great to hear of peoples successes and I hope to share some of mine in the future!
On a side note I am heading over to Greece at the start of May and cannot believe that the Sport is banned in this Month!! If any one has first hand experience on this matter it would be a great help!
Kind regards,
XMX

Hey Dan,

Thanks for your advice the other day in Venture. Anthony was quite a gent and was happy setting me up and I ended up leaving at 18:30!
I came out with the Geronimo Pro 85. I guess that if I came in to the shop half an hour earlier I would have left with what you picked up but ces't la vie!
I went in at Barricane just to have a play with the weights and then for a paddle around Lee bay. Both times water clarity was not in my favour but I got an idea on how it should all come together.
It seems quite silly heading up to the N. Coast when there are from what I gather some great spots nearer to home. I am pretty tied up with work atm and some reasonable swell forecast up N (Surf calls) but if you are interested on helping a newbie out I will swap some top tips for a go on my Zip lines at work. :)
Hope you are good and well.
Max

There are a few of us on the North Coast XamaX but for spearing your better off positioned on the south coast! No doubt we will probably pass each other heading in opposite directions along the link road with our spearo kit rofl

North Devon often suffers from poor viz (blame the bristol channel).

Hi Pav,

All good news, my trips to N Devon usually coincide with any Swell hitting your shores and my recent foray into Spear fishing is a by product of there being none! Fingers crossed if I get into this then I will look forward to the Doldrums of surf as much as when it arrives!
If you fancy hooking up this way give me a shout as I am all ways keen to get in the water and any helpful pointers would be more than welcome.
Regards,
Max

Welcome XMX. Just looked up Kenton on multi-map. You're very well place, just north of Torbay. Plenty of great places to explore without heading up North. Spearing should be a good complement to surfing. Surf when the surf is up, spear when things are flat!
