new gun: the C4 Erection!!
the pic posted below is one of the first CAD shots a of a new gun under development by italian company C4. They say it will be ready very soon.
I think it's a very interesting project. At first glance it's basically a new version of the C4 Mr. Carbon, with a "hammerhead style muzzle" for circular bands and full length rail,
But if you watch it with attention, you see the main feature: the barrell of this gun is telescopic, extensible, erectile. In short: it may turn from short to long, having a sort of...ERECTION!
Now what do you guys think? (and..no: erection is not its real name!)

Hmmmm, not the real name eh? I hope to god they don't call it the carbon hardon!!! rofl

So do you need to carry around spare bands and shafts of different lengths?

So do you need to carry around spare bands and shafts of different lengths?

So it seems. That wouldn't be much of a problem after all: here in the Med many spearos always carry a float or board with 2 or 3 guns (a short for holes, a medium for agguato and a long for aspetto).
Carrying only one gun, with 2 spare shafts and slings on the float, makes sense to me.
My only question is how they will seal the erectile/telescopic barrel to prevent leakage into the empty part when the gun has the so called erection?

Looks like a keeper to me, telescopic barrel, my wife will be jealous !

It looks a lot like the new mares guns.

The C4 Boner eh, nice. Like the adjustable length a lot, say 80 to 120. I don't see people changing its length in use, looks like its got 2 bolts to hold the erection up, viagra bolts if you will. You'd change it between sessions depending on the fishing being done, one gun fits all.

Balance will be tricky though.

NOT going to be cheap either!

I wouldn't think for one minute that a company like C4 would even let an idea like this come into the public domain without being very sure it would be 100% OK. However call me old fashioned but I don't think it would be for me, I would worry permanently about the integrity of that joint.

well but talking of titanium bolts and carbon pipe (thick, true aerospace carbon, not "epoxy with some carbon") I think it's likely to be pretty safe...
Preventing leakage remains my main concern.. And yes, also a tricky balance as Magpie said....

I have no doubt it would not be safe but I wouldn't be able to forget it while looking down the barrel. It's just me being a whimp

I think that front section must be fully sealed with threaded inserts for the bolts. I would suspect that the wide mid section would be sealed too with just a moulded sleeve for the front section to slide in. Balance would have to be a compromise don't you think but maybe they have come up with something clever?

Edit: Actually now I think about it, the thing does sound less worrying. Also if the end section is sealed then as it moves out the same floatation will give greater leverage around the handle and lessen any nose heaviness, getting cooler by the minute but not as cool as having 3 Mr Carbons hanging on your float

looks sleek, but not sure i like the adjustable concept..why own 1 gun when yu can own 2?? BUHAHAHAAAHA

i imagine the adjustability will be quite limited though, maybe 10-20 cm max, makes more sense marketing wise to be 20 i think..so that you can have 100 and 120 gun, or a 90 and 110.
im not sure the adustability os a good functionality though, i mean if you will be in one area where you might use say a 70 and a 90, easier to take 2 guns, the be in the water changing bands, spears line etc... i dont know..not sure i like it in addition to the balancing, structural integrity concerns...

Dude! :inlove this thing is beautiful! I like the whole extension part. That sound's really bad as$. Spagh you said this will be in production soon? only in Italy?

I wonder if C4 USA would carry them!

So literally speaking you can buy a 100cm gun and prob shortened to 95cm? or w.e specific measurements they come with?

wow .... it resembles the mares phantom! IMO

How about this Marwan ! "Why own two guns, when you Can own 1 that those the jobs of two!"

Armando Nice try
im more of a believer in "the more the merrier" concept,

Marwan if you get one of those no one will take away the other zillions of guns you already own. It will be just one more for the collection. And you can also tell your wife that, this one being extensible, you won't need to buy anymore after that
About the liking or not: there's a 10 pages thread on an italian forum on this new C4 project. The reason why they released the CAD shots is to get the greater feedback and comments from the public, no matter positive or negative, while the project is still in progress.
For Armando: I don't know about Usa availability. Our forum member Mark Laboccetta is the US importer for Omer gear and C4 fins, but not for C4 spearguns. I don't know why. Maybe he made an agreement with the two companies not to step on anybody's toes, but it's just an idea, you should ask him....Actually he sells C4fins in America. for guns it's a big "? "

she doesnt believe me anymore when i say that :naughty it just might be because i said it like 10 guns ago rofl
on a serious side, i think like any new concept we'll have to wait and see, has to be tested, perfected etc...

are you sure it's not Wood !!??!?!?

I'm tempted to make so many other unsuitable jokes.....

I'll get my coat (flashermac)

Spaghetti

Does omer own C4 or have a slice on them.

Hello Strangelove saw your bote! nice ride!

Personally I heard bad things from Subprof I choose the scubastore for international purchases.

Similar question but different brand!

Does spetton & C4 have a partnership or something? I seen a couple of blades made by C4 but sold under spetton names.

great find spago, as usual!!!!!!!!!

It does not sound too good to me, i would rather have two guns on my float, one longish and one short. If one breaks you can get by with the other. I can just about load my gun in the swell and current here in between urchin spiked boulders and huge waves, never mind change spears and dropping nice Ti bolts..

and, as marwan said: more guns = good, very good.

attached latest high tech. gun prepped for my 5 year old. yes, he can load and fire it, and he has used it in out pool twice already.. C4, send your inquiries to me via PM....

Its innovative but I don't really like the structure of the gun much. Its a great concept but not my cup of tea... the overall quality of the gun seems like it may lack integrity with this extension concept... but then again who knows as of now

Brilliant idea, adjustable length = adjustable power.
I dont foresee any problems apart from the price?
