Dispatching fish

So i accidently shoot a fish in the belly. What is the best way to kill him as quickly as possible
 
Knife in the brain, either up under the gill plate or straight down through the skull. Brain is approximately at an equilateral triangle behind the eyes.
I prefer to go up through the gill as it feels safer ie: wont stab myself! Stir the knife around the brain and the fish's mouth will open up when he's finished, usually.
