Hello guys. I'm an Apnea Academy Level 2 certified free diver that's been out of the scene for a few years. I'd like to get back in but I need a dive buddy in my neck of the Woods (East GTA).

Let me know if your interested. Most likely we'd hit the great lakes for some exploratory diving or some publicly accessible in land lakes. Whatever, that's not too important. I just need someone to dive with to keep it safe.

Damn. Too bad I just saw this! I'm in Uxbridge and just went diving in Simcoe today. Saw lots of very big bass.

Do you have a 5mm suit?

Of course I have one! It's good down to 1 or 2*C last time I used it. It hasn't been used for 3 years but it's dry and waiting. I will need weights for my weight belt and somewhere to buy socks but aside from that I'm good to go. Any suggestions for a scuba store that will have 3 or 5mm socks?

When is this putting to Tobermory happening? Let me know next time you dive Uxbridge and where?

MEC.ca has decent 3mm neoprene gloves, good "paddling" mitts for really cold water, and cheap 3mm neoprene socks.

If you can only fit 3mm in your fins, buy 2 pair and cut the toes off of one pair and wear them as "oversocks" on top of the fins as well.

Tobermory will start being freedivable by the crazies in a week or so. Still low single digit water temps.

I'll let you know when I'm going up.
Also, join freedivetoronto.com and find them on Facebook too.

Good ppl and an excellent club. Lots of pool sessions and some organized comps / outings.

Where in Durham are you from? I grew up in Pickering.

There's a scuba store in Pickering near hwy 2 that'll have 5mm socks. Also a dive shop in Uxbridge (if toucan believe that!?!?)

Awesome info. Yeah, I was part of the club for a bit while I lived in Mississauga but they're winter practise schedule didn't mesh with mine.

If I have 5 mm socks then I can dive any water :p I've spent over an hour in single digit water and the only thing that was cold was my face and my feet (my socks have a bagillion holes).

I'm sort of a vagabond. I'm originally from Windsor, Ontario but got my Apnea training and dives in Belgium (incl. An awesome scuba/diving pool in Germany (30m deep). I just found out they started letting free divers dive at Nemo33 (33m scuba pool in Brussels Belgium where I lived). So... Two years or so diving there, then I moved to Mississauga and just recently to Ajax.

If you know if freedive Toronto meets on the east end that'd be awesome. Just hopefully not Thursdays
