Scoutdad requested some pics, so I thought I'd put them up here for general perusal. The trailer is a regular 16 ft powerboat trailer with the winch and rails removed. A steel tree made of 2 inch steel tubing was added; I think you can see the design from the pics. Strength and weight are overkill for kayaks, but the added weight makes it trail very smoothly.

I was out in it and my single (Fenn Mako XT from VentureSport in Boca Raton, FL) yesterday off Amelia Island and even though I've not paddled in several months (mountain bike race season gets in the way), I still covered 4 miles in less than an hour in small swells and light wind....these are about twice the speed of my plastic boats, at less effort.
