dive operator on Prove, Turks & Caicos

Hello everyone,

I'm taking a trip to the Turks & Caicos Aug. 26-Sept. 1 and I'm looking forward to sevral days of diving. I'd like to grow gills but my wife and daughter are non divers so I have to balance my time.
Last year I dove with Caicos Adventures and had mixed feelings about Fifi and his operation. He had a fantastic boat, but crammed 21 divers, 3 divemasters, and 6 snorklers on board. I found myself not getting back to the villa until after 3 PM everyday. I dove 1 day with Flamingo divers where there were only 5 of us in the water. I saw more fish and was back by 1 in the afternoon. The downside to them was no nitrox, and a god awful rough ride to west caicos in a 24' boat (the waves were only around 1').

Has anyone dove with Dive Provo or Provo Turtle Divers? I've heard good things about both. I just don't want to get stuck going to the N.W. point everyday.

I will answer my own posting as it may help someone else.

I dove 4 days with Provo Turtle Divers and had a great time. Dive sites varied day to day. 2 days at N. Caicos, 1 dive a N.West Point, and the remaining dives at Grace Bay. On my day off from diving they went to French Cay. All the dives were different with Grace Bay being the best.

Turtle Divers has 2 fantastic dive boats, and the crew was very helpful. Caicos adventures gave me warm sports drink and warm water along with a 1/2 sandwich. Turtle Divers supplied cold water, lemonaid, and fruit juice, celery, carrot sticks, peanut butter, chips, grainola bars, fresh pineapple & melon. The number of divers was limited to 18 where Fifi had over 20. Now that he has a bigger boat I've heard that he takes over 30! I was never in a group larger than 6, and most of the time a group of 3.

I was picked up every day at 8, and was back by 2 on the W. Caicos days, 12 to 1 on Grace Bay & N.W Point days. Nitrox is avalible for $15 a tank.

There a a couple of good spots to snorkel on Provo but no shore diving that I'm aware of. The Turks and Caicos are know for their wall diving.

15 dollars (USD) a tank for nitrox? are you serious? that is outrageous!!! most of these dive operations need to get onboard with the whole nitrox movement, that is the future. most reputable operations offer free nitrox if you are diving multiple days, and that should be the case. charging almost as much for the nitrox as you do the dive is ridiculous, at least in this part of the world. i live in oceana.
