I plan to go on some night spear fishing what is the best one in terms of burn time and brightest, our dives normally are around 4-5 hrs
What have you used and how did it stand with salt water and ruggedness

thanks

Maybe ask in the scuba section? Those guys would be likely to have a wide range of lights used. This sections seems to be running on a ratio of 1000 views to each reply sadly

Thanks ended up after considerable research buying a Tovatec Ultra 111 seems all right, I will report back after my night diving experiences, thanks for the reply

Sorry, only saw your post now.

I find a torch invaluable when hunting under ledges and in caves. I use two different types: The first is a cheap Saekodive light and the other a Sporasub Flash. The Saekodive is 150 lumen and should be adequate for night diving. The Sporasub is 900 lumen but about 8 times the price.

Besides the more powerful light, what really makes the Sporasub better for me is the on / off switch which is a sliding magnetic switch with a recall spring, which means it goes off as soon as you take the finger off the switch. This is very handy when you only want the light on for short periods in order to scan a cave without scaring the fish too much and is also good for battery life.

I think with the advent of LED in torches battery life vs light intensity really improved however, you will only get around 3-4 hrs of constant burn time on a set of batteries. So buying rechargeable batteries may not be a bad idea as you will save money in the long run.

Wisedive lights has won quite a following in Denmark but they are seriously expensive. I have tried the smaller one they offer and it's indeed a very nice light. But again, expensive...

Tovatec are not exactly ur dollar store special either...having done many night dives, I know this get the best u can

Unfortunately don't have any plans to head out there.

If it's your first time then you're in for a real treat. All of the Indian Ocean islands are amazing and the diving out there phenomenal! My favourite is Reunion, a truly special place!

Just a heads up, as far as I know spearfishing is illegal on Mauritius.

Indeed, I have enquired and its possible to get a license if u r from overseas lol
