Diving Northern California Style at Ft Bragg

Nice calm day today about a 4 foot swell. Vis was great the water was crystal clear until the clouds came then it was about 20 feet due to lack of light.
Shot 5 nice blues 2 black and yellow rockfish 2 greenling and one black rockfish. No lings to be found. I then went perch hunting and got 6 big striped perch. This is using a pole spear. I picked up my three abs and I then went looking for rock crabs and got 10 for dinner.
Just to top off a great day stopped and went mushroom hunting on the way home and filled up a bucket of king bolletes. Now do i live in paradise or what!

Wow now that sounds like a day! The "chicken of the woods" is in full bloom here. The street i walk down in the evening smells so strongly of their smell neighbors complain. Ha if they only knew how tasty it is. I see people beating it out of the trees with broomhandles. (Last year i filled a trashcan with them) Next month the shaggy mane inkcaps will be here. Mmmmmm. But seriously i wish i had some King boletes here. I have only found those once when i was in Switzerland. Best omlet i ever had.

Btw - What tip do you use on your polespear for those rockfish?

Here the boleetes are in full bloom on the coast. I am 40 miles inland and there are no mushrooms up yet. Next rain.
I use a three prong paralyzer tip on my polespear. As soon as i shoot a ling i pin it to the bottom, slide my hand down the shaft of the polespear and grab the tines of the polespear and squeeze them which seems to paralyze the fish. Its really fun pinning a 10 to 15lb ling on the bottom, its kind of like big time wrestling on the sea floor. lol I have a 30lber that i cant quite get close enough to to use my polespear on, i could eaisly get him with my speargun but that is way to easy.
