They say it's going to warm up this Sunday, read "no snow", and I'm going diving. I'm posting this so I don't have to go solo, but I need to get in the water one way or another.

Who's interested in going? I'm open to most places but the shorter the drive the better.

I checked out Lake Mendota today and it was pretty darn green- but that could be due to the down wind part of the lake was standing on.

Driving up to Red Granite, or some of the other lakes in the Washura county region, woud be fine as well. I heard that Lake Nagawicka is running 15' of vis with 50F degree water right now.

There's also Lake Geneva if Nick is off of work, and can assure us a spot to enter without a boat. ;)

So who's in???

Jon

Not sure if I'll be off on Sunday yet.... but I'll try :)

Anyway, just got back from diving Lake Geneva, here's a couple of pictures

Hi Jon!

I am from Chicago but I am willing to go to either Lake Geneva or Devil's Lake, Sunday sounds good so let me know. I got my first monofin three weeks ago. So far I was in the pool almost every day with it but I want to try it in the lake before I'll go to Florida this winter. Besides, I realized some time ago that for some reason there is more freedivers in Wisconsin than in Illinois so I think it's time to meet. I have no freedivers here to train with and I have to "hire" my scuba diving friends to assist me.

Last I heard Devil's LAke had 6'-8' of vis. It's also pretty shallow torealy get a monofin working in.

Lake Geneva would be nice, if Nick has off. Otherwise Lake Nagawicka might be close to you, Peter, and has a bit more depth to hit- plus, it's inbetween Madison and Milwaukee to make it more central.

Red granite is to the north a little ways, but drive to there is almost the same as Devil's Lake sicne there are no windig roads to travel on. It has the advantage of shallows and depth right next to eachother so everyone can find a spot that they are comfortable with.

Let's pick a spot and plan a time.

Jon

Looks like Nick is out so Devil's Lake seems like the next best bet- since more people can make it there than anywhere else.

Let's say we meet at the south beach around 10 am and go from there- it's usually less crowded there.

Jon

Latest report, as of this morning, is that the lake has 15'-20' of vis and the water is 48 degrees (F).

Jon

I should be able to make it to Devils Lake tomorrow :wave . See you guys there.

So, how did the diving go? Any pics? Sorry I was not able to make it.

Good luck to all.

Sorry I didn't make it either, but at least tell me how was it and when is the next meeting?

Vis was pretty bad 6'-8' with lots of stuff floating around. Water was 48 degrees. We dove for a while and then gave up and went for hike around the lake- it was an awesome day to be outside. i'd post pictures but my internet is down at home right now- at the coffee shop right now. :)

Jon

Here's a couple of shots from Sunday. Too bad the vis was so bad as the rest of the day was beautiful.

I'm out for diving this weekend- have to help the in-law's pull a bunch of boats and docks.
