I've been getting to about 45 to 50ft. on 10 kick cycles (5 hard and 5 medium kicks) is this a good depth? It seems like a lot of kicking for a shallow depth.

My goal is to get the most out of my kicking so that I can reach 30 meters and still have some bottom time.

I practice on full breaths with no weight. When I use my 3 mil wet suit and six pounds It's closer to 50 ft. at 10 kicks.

I've been using Mares razors and I'm waiting for my DiveR blades to come in. I get more push with the DiveR's because they are stiffer and I have a high BMI. I'm definately losing fat weight because I reduced the weight (w suit) to 6 pounds and I might even go to 5.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Where do you want to be neutrally bouyant? That will have a lot to do with your weights and kick cycles. I usually aim to stop kicking about twice as deeps as I become neutrally bouyant. So for example for a 30m dive I will be neutral at 10m, kick to 20, and sink from there to 30m.

I'm crappy in bifins, but it takes me about 9 kickcycles to get to 10m? and 9 soft to get to 20m. In a monofin it's about 7/7 for me.

Thanks JennyWren! You have answered my question. I start to sink at 20 meters. I am neutral at just past 10 m. I guess my kicking is about right. My partner kicks less but he is negative earlier.
