Hi guys, can anyone share their techniques for 'make it yourself' freediving lanyards ?

Hi,

You helped me with fluid goggles, let me help You with EASY lanyard project

So it starts with a trip to "mountain hardware store" or climbing equipment store (pic. 1)

Section with climbing ropes (pic. 2)

I got 3mm NYLON utility cord (pic. 3)

BlueWater Ropes, Inc.

but I've seen many lanyards and they vary in shapes and sizes. Could be thinner or thicker, I even saw metal string covered with nylon

I wanted my lanyard to be 4ft but @ 16 cents/ft I went crazy and I bought all 5ft. Knots took quite a bit of length so get some more

My wrist band was taken from Slingshot kite I have (as in kiteboarding) and they all have safety lanyard. (pic. 4) You should find it on ebay or buy something from mountain store, I even saw someone used jogging iPod holder.

Attach cord to the wristband (pic. 5)

Secure knot (pic. 6)

Do the same at the carabiner end (pic. 7)

Melt ends (pic. 8)

Stretch (pic.9)

Dive (pics coming soon)

Nice nostres, I might add a snap shackle between the strap and the lanyard. Ive also seen some of the rope covered by clear tubing. I suppose for rigidity.

Thanks

Here´s another one:

Pond

Also, check out the beer can cooler... it´s a must have...

Hi,
the tubing prevents the cord from wrapping around itself, it's less messy
