Im looking to make a speargun travel case once i get home. its main use is for transport (duhhhh) to and from the boat and home and long road trips. No AIRLINE travel intended.

im going for a basic setup; most likely somehting similar to a Riffe case and i want to incorporate a PVC tube for shafts (previously "sharts")* and some pockets. for odd things such as extra line and fin holders, knives etc.

are there any suggestions on material to use for the outer lining, and what to use for cushioning? styrofoam? any ideas???

thanks

If you are gonna pack "sharts", I feel sorry for your dive buddy!!! (ever seen the movie 'Along Came Polly'?)

:)

Mishu take a look at my diy case tread, you can modify that design.

I think some egg crate foam is best and get a flexible plastic liner on the outside of that. A duffel bag(standard) and some d-rings will be good for a handle and/or shoulder strap. Also there are some fishing pole cases that are expandable (and rollable!!) and these fit euro guns great.

[ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=54213"]DIY gun case..[/ame]

here it is

I bought a fishing rod case made by Abu Garcia for about £15.
Has a side pocket large enough for crimping pliers, line, spare bits etc.

The actual case has a nice zip all the way on one edge - I use it for the car trip or for roccky approcahes - it has a sling handle as well as a normal case-type handle. The Totemsub Pelagos 100 will fit in it with just the tip poking out if the shaft is in the trigger mech or will fit in completely if the shaft is alongside the gun.
Nice green colour too...
Ed
