Are there any official figures of divers practicing DNF without any weight, or suit for that matter ?
I'm thinking of just using a simple swim suit and nose clip to keep it as simple and pure as possible.
I would be curious of how different the achievable lengths would be, without any equipment aids.

It depends a lot on your physiology. If you are extremely bouyant on a full lung, 3 or 4 pounds of lead will make life much, much easier if you intend to dive in the sense of achieving freefall. Also depends on salinity of water--for me in fresh water I am quite comfy without weight but in salt water it is very difficult for me to dive without weight... Swimming around of course is fine, but I am still buoyant at 25M with no weight.. For drills it can be useful but I would be able to go deeper with some lead.

Edit: oops i see you said dnf and i was thinking cnf...! Anyway i nearly always train dnf with no weight since I train for ocean... You will have to swim much faster dnf with no weight, but it is more realistic for ocean since coming up no fins you cannot do one stroke every 6 seconds like many dnf specialists...

I also agree that for training cnf, weightless dnf is a much more efficient simulation.
