Do you guys usually go with one light or two for freediving ?

I’ve been thinking about this lately after a few night sessions and some dives in lower visibility.
For scuba I always carry a primary plus a backup, that’s just standard for me. But with freediving I’m not sure if bringing two lights actually makes sense or if it’s just unnecessary extra gear.Right now I’ve mostly been diving with a single light, I’ve been using a DIVEBEAM DF1 Pro , and honestly it’s been pretty solid. Simple, reliable, no extra complexity, which I feel fits freediving quite well.

That said, there were a couple of situations where I felt a bit limited. Mainly when I wanted both a tighter beam for visibility and something a bit wider for general awareness. That got me thinking if a second light or maybe a different type of light would make more sense. So lately I’ve been wondering if it’s worth changing the setup a bit, maybe trying something more versatile instead of sticking with a single fixed beam. Not sure if that’s actually necessary though, or if I’m just overthinking it.

Curious what you guys usually do
stick with one light and keep things minimal
or bring two for flexibility and backup

I usually stick with one light for freediving and keep it simple. If I need more versatility, I’d rather switch to a light with an adjustable beam instead of carrying a second one.
