well incase you havn't read my blackout story its in the thread bellow entitled "my shallow water blackout nightmare". if u don't feel like reading the full story skip to the last paragraph.

so heres what happened about a week after my blackout I started with a light cough and it didn't go away for two weeks and at that point I would get a rotten taste in my mouth when I would cough. So I saw my primary doc who is one of these a-hole doctors that talks to u for 1 minute and doesn't tell you anything and gives you some pills that get him rich and don't do anything for you. His diagnoses was a slight bronchitis but he ran no tests at all to come to this conclusion. So about two weeks later I got better (or I thought) and left on a trip to mexico and I still had a slight cough but everything was paid for and there are no refunds so I left. This was to be a dream spearfishing/freediving trip that I was supposed to do last summer but it was ruined last year by a barotrauma I suffered. After the first day of diving in very cold water with whale sharks (which was awesome by the way) I started to get sick, fever came on, sharp lung pains, heavy cough. So the 5 week trip was cut short at 1 week and I came home and went to the hospital immediatley at the recomendation of a doctor I saw the last day in mexico that did an x ray and said I had a "puss ball" in my lung and pnemonia.

The Miami doctor found that I had a cavity inside the tissue of my lung that was very infected with alot of bacteria and they say it may have been caused by the black out. They said if after I blacked out anything from my mouth that could have made its way to the lung it could have caused this nasty infection. I was under the impression that the epiglottis blocks off everything when you black out so that this doesn't happen but that doesn't mean it can't. just trying to find out if this vaction/dream-ruining very expensive infection was related to my SWB. They said I should be able to return to diving within 1-2months and it won't have any detrimental effects on apnea diving.
