I am have not speared for about 10 years but have just decided to get back into it. I was from Sydney but now live about 10 hours north in Queensland.

There are alot of man made canals coming off the pacific ocean around where I am and they are filled with loads of bullsharks. I have been reading about people poking them if they get close to scare them off but i am wondering if anyone has ever taken a shot at them? Even killed one and brought it in? It would be pretty cool if they had but just wanting to know if it has been done and if not, why I should not attempt this!

Also why I am here, what is the best camo? I feel green would be good if you are hiding on the bottom but wouldn't blue camo be the best for hovering above fish etc?

Oh dear....

Nah im not serious.. I just wrote that question for fun.. Idiot..
Spearing sharks sounds for me like spearing unicorns – bad karma ;) They are threatened enough as it is and I think most people on DB have a lot of respect for these creatures. Hence the replies you got. But I'm just a newbie myself…

Sharks are apex predators and their reproduction rate is too low for them to be fished under any but the most controlled circumstances. No, I don't think hardly any of us spear sharks.

If you plan to make it a fair fight and go with your bare hands then please, be my guest. I think that's what natural selection was meant for.

Please keep discussions friendly and respectful. We've deleted 2 posts and I've given both proponents warning infractions. A bit of common courtesy wouldn't go amiss. Play nice.

Don't like Australia. U won't see me out there. I've plenty of work here since everyone is out there.

Jeez, what is wrong with you guys? Go spearing. Closing the thread & warning infractions all round. Have a nice day!
