Well, finally, here are some pictures of the case that I made for my Riffe Metal Tech #5? This is homemade and still rough but does the job for me.

Here are some of the hardware available from your local Home Depots etc.

It only took about 4 hours to make and cheap. about 15 U.S. dollars.

Cool piece of work. Might try something like that in the future. Are you going to put straps on it to carry on your back HEHEHEHE

Well maybe, except I would probably end up with splinters on my back. jajaja . No! This one is for carrying it on an airplaine. A soft bag will not protect your baby from those mean old airline loading crew. For my baby, it's got to be strong and rigid.

You can also use a rifle case...

Just like these...

The only problem is, it is 132cm long...

I used to own a rifle case for my Sauer 90 308win. and the extendible joint has always caused trouble. I think jointed designs are prone to mulfunction earlier. If I were you, I would choose a single peace hard plastic one.

I will check my hard copy hunting catalogs even if I see one rifle bag in the dimensions that you mensioned. Other than that, you can always manufacture one! :D

Why dont you plan building a PVC tube shaped one?

Nice work!
-- Do the airlines give you grief about it, or do you simply check it w/your bags? Grief, as in oversize charges, I mean.
Good post, and the case looks very strong. What kind of wood did you use? It looks like redwood, but that's probably the pretty red color/stain telling me this...

Fabrizio just let me know that he has gun cases in stock. Thanks a lot for all the help.

Most guns the handle can be easily removed and the resulting stock fits nicely into a PVC tube with a little padding all the way around.

No airlines has given me grief about it yet. I just declare it as fishing gear and they take it. It is made of ALA material, ALA meaning anything lying around and some other things like bronze hasp and hinges and clasps. It came about when I couldn't find a case for my gun (Shane's problem at the moment) on my way to a spearfishing trip to the Hatteras. I made it in four hours and was ready for my morning flight the next day. I will keep improving on it as it is still very rough and will post the improvements. It is actually 1/4" mahogany plywood on a 1 X 2 inch frame on the two halves. It is very easy to make if you have a table saw.
