Dolphin is not a fish!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
That's terrible, I don't know how some people live with themselves.

Looks like an interesting petition, not had a chance to have a proper look yet. When I have a bit more time I'll do one (you upload a picture?).

Cheers,

John.

It amazing how we feel that our way is the only way. the Japaneese have been eating Dolphin for thousands of years. They see dolphin as we see tuna. Why are our TV gereated preducies considered the right way, and shoved down the throat of the rest of the world.
I wish we would view Sea Lions as we view Tuna. There is a major over population of them on the west coast of the US.

I think this shows how important it is that we see how others perceive us. I kill things, usually fish, but sometimes mammals. Some of the video there shows poorly executed kills. Where the hell are the guns? If you take a life to preserve your own, you owe it the soul you destroy to end it as quickly as possible, and to remain present for as long as that takes.

Every person who eats meat ought to feel obligated to take at least one life themselves. Then they can remember what it was like. I wonder how many of those who actually eat that dolphin meat can say they have? How many of you have ever dropped a pig or a cow? Chicken?

And if you find the taking of certain types of life offensive and you understand why- bravo! Feel free to protest or abstain. Dolphin is out of bounds for me to kill, but if anyone has a dog or cat they don't want anymore, or maybe a fat parrot...

We also have a seal population problem on the west coast of Namibia and South Africa. But seal culling/harvesting always result in outrage and soon pictures of baby seals with big brown eyes are used to incite the emotions. On land Elephant culling is another major issue. Due to the good anti poaching controls our national parks are over populated with elephants. They are practically destroying their habitat because their natural migratory routes are no longer there.

some issues just get the emotions more charged than others.

We also have a problem with human over population!

I think trying to stop this kind of thing (dolphin murder) is a good cause and I am glad that there are compasionate people out there that try to help. - Just my opinion! (by the way I don't kill or eat any animals)

John.

PS: I like the picture by Saver - I'll have to go check out some more of your art!

I don't see it as the type of animal they kill [unless it's endangered] but definately more of HOW they kill it. And they kill them so cruelly :-/

roflroflrofl HAhahahaha!

Indeed I eat meat, and it is more difficult to accept when people kill something cute, like a dolphin. I can't really point fingers, and people do need to eat. Even so, if they are harvesting food in a sustainable and humane manner, that's a bit more acceptable.

But dolphins are very intelligent beings though like chimps, I think they are almost human.

I also doubt that they are killed humanely (sp?).

I 2 kill of those those cute big brown eyed Bambi's every year. They are eating my cute carrots and causing my carrots so much pain..those brutes!!! And that nice tasty fat free healthy meat that Bambi has..yummy!!!!!!!!!!!

Consider this individual situation. Dolphin hunting seems mainly centered around Japan, which is an island. It makes sense that they would get a large quantity of food from the sea. Dolphins are probably a traditional source of meat for them, and have been for quite some time. It's similar to some countries that eat dogs. I wouldn't particularly want to do that, either. The controversy lies in two places: one, the killing of cute, smart dolphins, and two, the inhumane way in which the killing takes place. Of the two controversies, the latter is more reasonable to address. Telling a group of people that they cannot harvest their traditional food source because it's cute is like saying you can't cut trees because they are pretty. Let's be reasonable.

On another note, some former dolphin hunters are beginning to realize that there is money in tourism, and are beginning to give sightseeing tours instead of killing the dolphins. I don't know if this is a widespread trend, but it is interesting.
