Hi All,

check this out, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCN5TT-9Vjk]DOL-Fin X-20 Monofin - Line Diving - YouTube[/ame]

the snorkel looks bit different,

out of curiosity, anyone have any idea of this?

Ron, userprofile REVAN, who invented the x-20, and made the snorkel, has since long talked about making a tutorial on making this thing. Don't know what it is about, but suspect it's something clever

You coud point him in this thread direction via PM.

Here's a little something about the snorkel I just remembered (starts 3:03 if not starting there)

thanks,

interesting,
I wonder where can I find that mouth piece, looks different.

Hi All,

We're getting close to having something happen with this. The problem has been a lack of motivation to make another snorkel, so have not had the opportunity to video the process of making it. Recently, my brother asked me to make one for him. I have the parts here and will be making him a loop snorkel and a video of the process the next time he visits. It should not be too long.

So, stay tuned... I'll post the video in this thread when I get it done.

Ron

Ron, what about being a safety in the pool. Would it be possible to do that with this snorkel? I.e. swimming with your head tilted sideways.

Also you speak of certain disadvantages in the video, what exactly do you mean by that?

Cool, one quick question, can we find all te parts easily such as the mouth piece ?

The disadvantage is that it is more work to attach or detach the snorkel from a mask. It has a total of three snorkel keepers instead of one. However, once it is on a mask, there is little reason to remove it as compared to other snorkels because of how it nests under your chin when you remove the mouthpiece. It is also a little harder to put on your mask because the snorkel has to go over your head in the process.

As for head tilted sideways: It depends on how far you tip it. As long as the top of the snorkel is not underwater, it will work just fine.

The parts are inexpensive and easy to find. I just takes a little time to make it. Probably not more than an hour once you have the job set up.

if we fix small clipper on the tube, it should be fairly easy to clip on the mask strap.
But I still have no idea where to find the mouth piece, can't tell much from the video.
it look like a mouth piece with double side hole.

will be waiting patient for more info.

Smith Aerospace Corp. has finally produced a video on how to make a loop snorkel (aka - a double tube snorkel). I finally put in the time to make a video. This snorkel technology will be our gift to the freediving community.

Cheers,

Thank you for sharing.
I was thinking other alternatives for the mouthpiece .

Super-awesome documentation and thanks for sharing / giving back to the community.

At least now you don't have to spend any more time explaining it to ppl - just refer them to YouTube!

I went to the hardware store looking for a 3/4" combination T-fitting, but they were out of stock... They said they were suddenly overwhelmed by a stampede of freedivers each buying one.

Thanks again!

Cool Ron

I'm definately thinking about alternatives to the mouthpiece, if I'm going to make one... Perhaps an old snorkel mouthpiece.

Cool Ron

I'm definitely thinking about alternatives to the mouthpiece, if I'm going to make one... Perhaps an old snorkel mouthpiece.

The mouthpiece in the video seems crude, but it actually works very well. Other snorkels I have used have that flange in front of the bite buttons. It rubes on my gums, and with enough use can make a sore spot. This design does not have that. I can snorkel as if it were a full time job and I don't have any issues with the mouthpiece.

I should probably mention that I have started using a bite trey with it which distributes the bite loads across several teeth when you apply jaw pressure to the mouthpiece. These treys also help to hold my jaw in proper alignment. With this accompanying the loop snorkel, the combination is by far the most comfortable snorkel I have ever come across. I even use the bite treys when I do statics because it helps me to relax my jaw which had always been an issue for me. I added about 30 seconds to my PB after I started using it.

Ron - any picture of bite treys if you find a time take one ? I can imagine a lot of things, it could be heplfull for me. Thanks.
