More range (subject to rubbers), a little more time loading & possibly a few more tangles. One thing I noticed is that a longer spearline and/or bungee is that there is less shock/strain -- when I went back to a single wrap, my previously reliable 3mm bungee cord was greatly shorted and promptly snapped, twice (repaired while at sea) when fired. Thank heaven shiny spears are easy to see.

I've since switched to a Beuchat shock absorber - like an RA bungee but much lighter construction. It looks up to the modest size fish I deal with but I've heard of robustness issues with it, so I'll be keeping an eye on it. Especially the slip, which although of nice design seems just too thin.

Hammerhead in Hawaii used to sell a small plastic shark-fin that screws under the barrel of a speargun to allow user to have a 1.5 wrap. Can' imagine it would be any quicker to load.
