Dry land blackouts

Hi all, I have a quick question about co2 and o2 table training on dry land. Are there reported deaths of people blacking out and dieing while doing dry tables i.e. lying in bed? Should I have a spotter on land? Thanks for any input.

To the best of my knowledge you will not die doing statics dry you could blackout but should regain conciousness again quite quickly with no harm done. The only caveat may be that you may have a medical condition that predisposes you to a problem or that you swallow your tongue and choke neither particularly pleasant but probably unlikely as well. But if you can have a buddy there too can't be any harm and may motivate you better. Others may have another opinion but thats my 2 cents.
 
I do not know about anyone dying when doing CO2 / O2 tables, but deaths caused by choking or head injuries after blackouts due to so called choking games or hyperventilation games are responsible for a large number of juvenile deaths. According to WikiPedia, alone in the USA, the choking games are responsible for 250 - 1000 deaths each year!

So if you use to train standing, sitting, walking, running, biking, driving, or in other situations that put you in risk in case of loss of motoric control or blackout, then there is, of course, certain risk of injury or death too. By choosing the right position, environment, protection, or supervision you can improve your safety and minimize those risks.

fcallagy thanks for the reply help, and trux thanks for the links. I quit doing dry dynamic due to the falling down reason. I’m just doing static’s lying down so choking or possibly locking up is my main concern. I currently lay on my back and was wondering if on my side or stomach would be a better choice safety wise. I am pushing it way more often dry and alone, as I don’t have a stable buddy for the pool.
