Following on from a comment made by Rf2 on the "Signs of an imminent BO?" thread, I thought it would be interested to find out if anyone else here likes to listen to music while doing statics, and if it helps.

Music is another big part of my life, but I don't know whether it helps my dry static times, but occasionally I like to put some minimal ambient or soundscape music on. Some of the artists that I like to listen to while doing this (also listed on the other thread) are:

Brian Eno
Labradford
The Dead Texan
The Four Carnation
Pan Amercian
Harold Budd

Plus a lot more. I might list some more if people are interested, but I'm looking forward to finding out what other artists everyone else may listen too.

I also like to listen do music while doing dry statics. I usually listen to random stuff, but some good ones that help me to relax are Moby and The Animatrix soundtrack for example.
It keeps me busy and I'm not thinking about time.

By the way, a new PB of 5:00 today! :) I'm extremely satisfied, never thought I could've make it that far.

Having something to distract you while doing statics is vital!!! I am trying to think of something while holding my breath but it is not always working! I think i will try music!

I've posted this here before so hope you'll forgive the repetition, but I use 'Waiting for Cousteau' by Jean-Michel Jarre. On CD it is about 45 minutes long, so is great for a static session.

I always turn on the radio for dry statics, just listening to whatever the mainstream station has to offer. Yesterday it was the live concert of an up-and-coming Heavy Metal band. Groooooowwwwlllllll. Not the best experience, but it made me determined to complete the statics series, so I could turn off the radio again! I have also tried watching television, but it is too distracting. Sitcoms can ruin your apnea, when they make you laugh!

No music, but usually during warmups I do some reading...Just to pass the time, they're so damn boring.

But for the big one, just silence thank you :)

I'm also not listening to music. I have found the silence works better for me. But in fact - my mind itself can be quite noisy. :mute

I also find that silence works best for me. I must be the only one who can do 50 minute tables without getting bored. :)

OK, so a bit more about music while doing statics.
Today I did my static as I do regulary - during my way home from work on bus. It's a long ride and since I usually don't have any book, I spend time by holding breath. Normally it's quite quiet thing, but today...

Behind me sat one girl with headphones on head and kept singing to herself. I can tell you, that off toned Madonna's songs are not kind of tunes one would like to have as statics background. :naughty :duh

If you use the PC based tables you can play music and cut a MP3 track that includes all the table instructions with your favourite breath hold music. Best thing about this is that you can then stick them on an MP3 player and where ever you are you can hit play, close your eyes and do a whole table with music without once looking at a watch!:)

If you have one of the free audio ripping programs you can record your own instructions and then make any table you like with any music you like. I have built about 10 of the PFI tables this way. Next task is to waterproof the MP3 player so that I can do the same thing in the pool.

It's only a matter of time before my F1 provides this for me:)
