Dubai Dolphinarium Protest

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I pushed the button...(to the music of "I shot the sheriff"...)

Plenty of western country aquariums have dolpins. Near my home town in Germany we have the Duisburg Aquarium. These dolphins in there are often displayed during shows, which include them towing boats or children.

Why is wrong for an aquarium in Dubai to do so? ???

I often get the feeling that the various green groups ignore the practices of their home countries and target developing countries instead... :hmm

Not a green group or groopy, but I was against the tel-aviv luna park when it wanted to get dolphins as well. I didn't sign the petition because it was in Dubai.

Sorry dude, wasnt implying anyone here was anti Dubai...

Just curious if green groups would be as upset if say, the Monteray Bay Aquarium, announced a new Dolphin display. I suspect not... :hmm

im tempetd to sing it, but since i dont know the true capabilities of the folks in Dubai to handle dolphins, i will stay out on this one.
if it were Kuwait, then i would sign it, because i know they are not ready to properly handle dolphins

The issue that most folks are saying in Dubai, is that dolphins are much better off in their natural habit. Why not work towards bringing the dolphins back to dubai (saw some two weeks ago) and organise boat trips to view them?

The talk-back show on the radio was explaining how they starve the dolphins to make them do tricks for food... that's pretty nasty.

I was also tempted to but I couldn't think of anything that rhymed with dolphin.

On a more serious note, I'll add my support to the campaign.

given that information, i signed it :thankyou

if you really want to do anything worthwhile in Dubai, it would be to stop the Palm Island project/natural disaster. :ban :ban :rcard

The World and the two Palm islands.. too late to stop anything now... the ecosystem is already stuffed and i cant see, in spite of all their "expertise" how they are going to rebuild those reef systems.

Have more trust in nature Sarah.
In a few hundred years it'll recuperate. :waterwork
