dynamic apnea training in short sessions

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

Hi all,

I've spent a great among of time reading all the information about dynamic apnea on this forum but I can't quite find the answer I'm searching for.

Basically I'm training 5 days/week in a pool (25 yards by 50 m) for dynamic apnea, with a buddy.

My pb is pretty modest : 75m with fins and 50m w/o and of course I want to do better.

The problem I have is time : during lunch time I have ~30 minutes of pool time :(.

So far I've divided my training in 2 folds :
* pure cardio swimming : crawl stroke 4 strokes/breath for 30 minutes when I don't have a buddy (twice a week)
* With a buddy I'll do
- 10 minutes slow swimming (6 to 8 breath/strokes)
- 25 yards pyramid, no fins : 25 yards, 9 slow breathing, 25 yards, 8 slow breathing,... down to 3 breathing and back up to 9.
- At this point I switch to the length and do consecutive 50m with fins with ~1m breathing
- finally I do max length with 2 minute breathing and 3 purges.

I was wondering if I could make a better use of my limited time or actually any advice changes to do to make the training more diverse.

my thoughts:

1 minute brathing might be equal to full recover: be sure it is not

as for max lenghts, i'd rather do them once in a month or so and work 100% on them near comps, if any
max attempts might be very frustrating if done too often

anyway, always pay attention to your sensations and work on them

Tony, my goals are :
*75m dynamic no fins
*100m dynamic with fins
my idea is the following : I want to do 50m in CW, so I'm convincing myself that if I can swim 100m I should be able to do 50m CW (less kicking thanks to the sink phase but equalization).

Gabriele, if I understand your recommendation correctly, I should minimize the breathing time between the 50m in order to continue on the CO2 resistance tables ?
Also less max attempts :)

don t forget to work on your streamline technic, an increasing technic is a better performance, and try different stroke glide rhythm
this trained in the pool will make your cw stronger

well, 100m dyn does not necessarily mean 50m cwt as you would rather go trhough eq issues tipically around 30-35m and then learn how to get past

i didn't mean "minimize" actually, but sure 1min seems too much to me
try 30 seconds and, if it is too little, increase a bit, then train to reduce that time or to increase distance keeping that recovery time
then reduce it, then increase distance, etc
of course you'll never get to do 200m series with 30" recovery: my example has some limitations...:martial
