Dynamic Rules Question - are Weights Inside the Suit allowed?

Hi,

Just a simple dynamic question, are weights inside the suit allowed?

I've competed some years ago with the weights inside, and the current rules do not appear to forbid it for pool competitions.

So is AIDA ok with weights inside the suit for pool disciplines?

(I only carry a modest 4 kg inside my Dynamic Apnea Suit.)


ps I'm looking for a new training buddies in the south of the Netherlands.

Don't see why not but curious to know the answer too. Are you considering some kind of chainmail inside the suit? I often thought that it might be a good configuration lol would have to be a very light one

For depth I guess the issue is potential cheating? ie hiding a weight on the way down and then getting rid of it on ascent..

For depth, the issue is that a diver in trouble needs to be able to ditch his weights or even worse, a deep water blackout and the safety diver not being able to quick-release / jettison the ballast to aid himself and help save the competitor.

In a pool, it's only 3m deep - so not much of a concern... Plus most people keep most of their weight on their neck in the pool.

Interesting, so would weights like those worn in the pool by Alexei (velcroed on his back) also not be allowed for depth?

I don't think so because it's not quick to release.

But for depth I have another idea of eliminating the neckweight.

Diving without neckweight feels much more comfortable to me.
