Asking pool experts...

I've started to do some repeated big dynamics (DNF at the moment) and was wondering what % is reasonable to train - say 3-4 dives in a row. I did two at about 85%, the second one felt a lot harder and I wasn't sure what would happen if I tried a third so I did about 70% (half packing first two, full packing on the third). My recoveries were about 5 minutes.

What % can people pull off in repeated dives? Is 5 minutes too short for recovery?

Cheers!

Most people take 12 minutes rest between max-style swims. 5 minutes is way too short.

Even 12 minutes does not result in a full recovery.

It depends on the actual length/distance covered. Back when my max was 100m, I could happily 10 repeat 66 or 75m swims. The idea of doing 10 150m swims on the other hand? No thanks. There is simply an unavoidable fact that the latter is physically and mentally more draining.

so that means he did five times 75% of his max - that is impressive!

I like to start with a max and then after c6-7 mins to do a slow set to built contraction tolerance (like 4 times 1-1.30min STA and 50m slow DNF w/ one breath) and then a technique set (like 4 times DNF c50-60% of max)... there is no way i could 85% of max in repeat dives.
