Allright, well track season for me is coming up in one month and to prepare, I usaually start to run about 1 month ahead. The problem with this is I do get bad quad and calf cramps when i am doing running workouts becauce I have not ran for a month or so. Anyway on to my point. Tonight I was trying some dynamic apnea drills and I noticed that I was having a harder time reaching my training distance. Are the cramps the problem or was I just having an "off" day? :head

Perhaps it is some effect from your running. I wouldn´t say that it is a problem unless you experience the cramps on every session. Cramps usually have some reason, like your water balance or salts and minerals. Cramps can also occur in the end of a huge dynamic when your legs just can´t handle anything more.

If you are stretching a lot before running this will cause your muscles to get so stiff and hard. The best thing to do in strecthing is to stop when we we feel pain in the muscles. This will help you a lot. Do not over-stretch your muscles...

Bad idea to even stretch your muscles when they are not warm. Don't stretch your muscles until after your run. If you like to stretch before a run, try doing a 10-15 minute warmup before you run. You will know when you are warm when your hands and feet are both hot.

by the way...track rocks

Well thankyou all for your tips about streaching. I normally do a light 1mile streach and then go for a 5-6 mile run. However I still have this one question. Will cramps make it harder for me to swim dynamic? Because I was trying to swim in the pool and I was having a more difficult time reaching my normal traning distances and I was wondering if it was somehow the cramps. I belive this because cramps are lactate acid buildup in the muscle. Normally O2 will "scrub" it out, however when underwater this becomes challenging. Perhaps these cramps were sucking more of my o2 or perhaps it was because I had do move in so much pain. idk andyway thanks for all of the help you guys (and girls)
