Found a picture of my first gun in 1980. I made from varnished Hibiscus wood and a 6061 T6 tube, 3-5/8 French bands and 5/16''x 40'' shaft. My best
friend named it ''Little Mule''. as shooting it with one hand was a bitch.
Check out the fast 100# fluorescent yellow mono.
I shot the Calico at Victoria Beach Calf after I had taken off my fins near the rocks.
The fish was gutted at the beach in those days.
Cheers, Don Paul

The next hybrid I built to hunt the gin clear waters off New Caledonia for tuna in 1981.( top gun in rack)
72'' hand carved teak barrel, shell inlay, black 6061-t6 grooved tube bonded and foam sealed, Under Sea trigger,(bought from Jay Riffe) 3-17mm french bands @ 250% 80'' 3/8 17-4ph shaft, Prodanovich stem point tip.rear and mid handles, could be fired from each, a early Riffe reel. This gun had a open muzzle of my own design with line crossover pin guiding line for shaft retainment, later used by Jay R. and others.

I drove my new ''Negro Modello'' to the Irvine ranch hills in my girl friends new
car, cocked all three bands and braced my butt against the door. I still don't remember pulling that trigger but my body crushed in the door as I watched the sparkle off that long shaft go over the next ridge, deep into rattle snake land. I know it's still out there somewhere, if Manny Puig ever comes back for a visit .... we can go for a hike.
All the best, Don Paul _

she has some sexy curves ,, thanks for sharing Don ,,,

Cheers Joe

Just received some new resin from Phil Herranen Spearguns. I'm going to leave Little Mule as is with all it's scars form a good life. As I'm still killing fish with Double Trouble and Tiputa, I need to refinish some bare wood to
keep the guns sealed. I'll post images in a couple weeks as the work progresses.
Cheers, Don Paul

Don Paul,
Are you still using the double gun? You brought it to a Neptunes meeting back in the '90s when I was a member.
