when i equalize out of the water it seems like i can continue to blow and hear air blowing thru my ears... or does it just sount like i can?... is this something anyones noticed themselves? also when i return to the surface from a dive my ears "flood" with water... i find myself constantly shaking my head to get the water out... ive been diving for a month or so now and no pain or anything to do with my ears at all yet...

To me, it seems you have a perforated eardrum when you hear air blowing right through. I suggest you get a check-up done. Drum perforations are not always visible with an otoscope though, a part of it is hidden for the eye.
When submerged and you clear this way, do any bubbles leave your ear?
Loss of balance could indicate water penetrating your inner parts.

Hi , are you sure the air isn't blowing out of your eyes ? Mine do this if I blow a little bit harder than is necessary to equalise, to check , shut your eyes tight then blow .
The water in the ears thing seems common for new divers , it used to annoy the hell out of me but now I never think about it , nor do I ever put anything in my ears ( I don't even rinse them out with fresh water ) .
Your ears can take care of themselves if left alone .
However , if this is not the case and you do have perforated drums you need to get them looked at , as ptoot said .

P.S. just realised this is your first post , welcome to db .

hey thanks.

yea other then a little water in my ears i have no complaints. im decompressing good and my ears never hurt afterwards. ive been diving about ten times now. max depth of 30ft.

when i close my eyes and blow i hear my ears pop, then if i keep blowing i can hear a shhhhh sound that keeps going aslong as i blow.

In that case you probably should get your ears checked , just to be on the safe side .
Hope it all amounts to nothing , let us know either way .

Cheers , Dave .

Me too, only it's the left ear. Funny I never noticed that before. No air coming out but faintly it sounds like it. Maybe pressure on the nerves or something. I would have someone watch to make sure and having a doctor take a look is always a good idea.
