Looks like a bad one, let's hope the loss of life is low.
Best of luck to our db brethren in the area and any areas affected by Tsunamis.

Tsunami / 津波

Sounds like a huge one. Heard an early report on Classic Fm on the way into work. A colleague says the TV footage is hard to comprehend - the scale only becoming apparent when you notice that the objects in the water are cars and other larger vehicles.

Hope our friends in Japan ... and Hawaii (and the islands in between) are safe.

prayers go out to all those affected by this, may god protect them and their families.

Japanese Champion Ryuzo Shinomiya is back home and safe, but still no word from my friends in Yokohama:(

it seems like it has hit Hawaii now :(

KP that footage you posted was just horrendous. I really cant imagine it, its like watching a movie of your worst nightmare :(

This reminds me of Alison and Colin and their Tsunami nightmare :( RIP you two, hopefully you'll be helping some others out there in the blue.

As bad as the damage and loss of life from the tsunami is, it apears that they also have a nuclear disaster unfolding as well.
I think the japanese rescue teams had just left Christchurch i'm sure the New Zealand govenment will be sending teams over to help out

It's hard to comprehend the scale of the destruction that's happened. The citizens have been remarkably stoic under the circumstances.

Britain is due to replace its nuclear reactors over the next few years. What is unfolding in Japan will undoubtedly influence what happens.
