Easy Loaded Gun

Hi Guys,
I have recently had a hernia operation and my doc forbitten me this summer to practice my favorite hobby spearfishing unless I use a very easy loaded speargun. Does any body know any type that takes compressed air ampules or suggest of an easy loaded type.

Hey Akis!
I hope you'll recover real soon.
You can use the 14.5mm Riffe bulk bands (single or double).
They are extremely easy to load and should you use double bands with a good 6.5mm spear you will be able to wack some serious fish!!

A month after your surgery, you can use any kind of gun you like just as long as you don't load it on your groin (you should be chest-loading, anyway). If your doctor tells you otherwise he is probably not very certain of the job he did on you.
BTW, I am a surgeon and I have performed several hernia surgeries and that's the kind of advice I would give you

Thank you guys you made my day and my summer i am rushing to buy my new easy loaded gun. Dear Frogman it was not a usual hernia but a huge after operation hernia (a result of havy spearfishing last summer after the removal of a mesenteric cyste (sorry i know it is not a medical forum this one...)). I'm not a medical person lol but Galadion is right about the Riffe bands, they are so easy in comparison with the heavier euro bands. It might be worth considering a Riffe competitor as a candidate gun, they can be had in Greece here

No, Paris is the nearest dealer I believe but its easier to buy mail order from Kostis (link above) in Greece

Yes we bought some stuff this year, at the time his online payment system didnt work on the english section so had to send credit card details by email but I believe its working fine now. Delivery took about 5 days but you get a tracking number as soon as its posted so you know every day where your order is You can email Kostis too his english is perfect and he is very helpfull
Edit: Just checked electronic payment and it is fine now

Ok thanks for the heads up. Always believe in referrals if you can get them. I think Mike Wilkins imported some Riffe stuff a few years ago, up in Chester area, do you know him?

Ive heard of him, apparently he used to fish around here but we've never bumped into each other

Have you used riffe guns in the UK? Always fancied having a go myself, with modifications....

Overkill. A good 90 is adequate for 90% of the time in UK. Thats 9 out of 10 shots lets say. Remaining 10% is 100 or 110 all single band euro guns. Save your money dude.

More money than sense at the moment I've tried most of euro-brand guns in the UK from 75cm to 100cm i.e. Sporasub, Picasso, Cressi, Omer, Marc Valentin etc. etc. and just want a new toy basically. If it's any good then I'll take it abroad on holidays. It would only get used in UK areas I know with good summer viz and decent-sized bass which kinda limits things anyway

Yes I have a Riffe midhandle teak gun 38" long,its very versitile, its a long gun with only about 24" (60cm) stuck out in front and with 2 or 3 power bands so you have a range of power. I know many wont agree with me but its almost the perfect gun for the UK, it does hole hunting, long shots and is very easy to swing in the water much faster than a 90cm gun. The BIG disadvantage is spare shafts, they have to come from Greece or the US which is a bit of a downer Oh and they're not cheap but similar to 2 Rob Allens.
