I know there has been a lot on the news with regard to Egypt and the political situation here in the country. What we see on the news and what the reality is are often two different things. From my perspective the country is safe for travel. Now I’m not a politician or political analyst, and I know that things can happen, but for all intensive purposes Egypt is as safe or safer than it was before the revolution, and future political events are very likely to occur in a less extreme manner. I was just in Cairo two days ago and I can tell you that the people are welcoming, happy and with the exception of some more military personal in the city things look normal.
For those people who have taken the time to travel here over the past months, particularly to Sinai, it is obvious that there is little cause for concern if you want to travel to the area. Sinai, for all intensive purposes missed the revolution. There were no protests, no riots, no violence to speak of. With the exception of increased security measures in some areas, very little was noticeably different from the normal state of affairs in Sinai. People are still relaxed, calm and enjoying life. The freediving is still amazing and the desert views are equally stunning. Places like Dahab have remained unchanged practically speaking.
