Anybody know anything about the new Black Shadow Neoprene that Elios have brought out.

http://www.eliossub.com/html/en_pesca.html (follow the link for Black Shadow half way down the page)

Not cheap in the made to measure version of a spearo wetsuit and I was just wondering if it’s worth the extra?
Info from anybody would be most welcome.
Cheers:)

re: Elios Black Shadow Neoprene

Hi Podge,

Unsure if it is that new or just an update on the old black shadow. I have a 3mm black shadow suit which was made in 2004 (see my Avatar). Its a great suit that can be put on without lube, I gave it an absolute hammering for 3 years, diving at least 3 times a week and rinsing it out maybe once a week!!! It has compressed a bit being 3mm but that was due to my more athletic days as a freediver!
I still use it on a few dives a year now when I am in the tropics.

The coating does wear off after a while but mine was good for a few years and even now you can just about get into without lube.

I had a gun pad fitted but no elbow or knee pads and it does show a bit of reef rash.

Hope it helps

Dave

re: Elios Black Shadow Neoprene

I have two black shadow suits, but mine are both a couple of years old. My 3mm has a nylon lining on the outside and my 5mm is painted smoothskin on the outside. I switched over to it from a bare rubber suit once i started getting rashes from the bare rubber. This stuff seems to do the trick.

Elios told me that Black Shadow lining was warmer than the gold/copper/silver linings so that's why I decided to go with it. So far it seems to be holding up pretty well.

Here's a couple of picks of my winter (5MM) suit:

Only thing I'd say is it's not "new", their website calling it that just means they haven't updated the site for a long time.

I remember the site having that exact same text on it at least 5 years ago, and it could have been there a long time before then, as tecdave says, he got his in 2004.

That's not to take anything away from the coating, it just isn't new anymore!

Alright calm yourself to a panic, I’ve changed the name of the thread just for you mate.:)

Careful though, you need to read the small print.

'Beware, if you are a fat b****** you may look like a giant black pudding in it'

UUMMM Black Pudding, fried in butter with bacon, egg and hash browns.:):):)

Hi Paul,
I have one on order - due soon.
I can let you know how it goes... I chose it over my previous elios cammo version mainly because of the option to get into a dry suit - and one that dries quicker, and possibly because i dont beleive the cammo hype, and also possibly because i could choose the colour of the seams :)

I've got two - 3 and 5 - use lube. People who don't use lube dive in warm water.
The suits rock.

Thanks chaps, (except Apneaboy but as he’s from Manchester he knows no better:t:) ).
If it’s good enough for The Carp Whisperer then it’ll be more than good enough for LITTLE old me.

Hey Dave, what do you call a Southerner with a girlfriend?
