Elios - choosing materials

hey everyone,

about me - im new to the furum generaly i'm a recreational diver. I dive mostly at the red sea [water temp 21c winter - 26c summer. on land temp' 23c winter - 38c summer, a little hell]. i'd like my suit not to be too delicate - throw it in the car when taken off etc'. and mostly - i hate using lub, sope etc', my dream is just to put it on off easily. im taking a 2mm suit.

as you may know, getting information from elios is not easy so i need your advice. im ordering my first elios wetsuit and i have some deliberations:

1. neopren: yamamoto 45 / heiwa - i know that yamamoto is more delicate, but i also heared that heiwa is warmer. im afreid it will be too warm.

2. outer lining- need a recomandation - i want it elastic and comftreble. dosent have to be super durible.

3. inner - my hardest disition. on on hand open cell or coating needs lub, and im afraid will be too warm in summer [26c water, 35c on land]. on the other hand i never tried inner lining so i dont know if its comftreble like open cell, or if it will keep dry or warm during winter

please i need your advice
 
Hi,
don´t mind about too warm, you can wear one piece or non, or let water in.

if you hate soap, you can do it in the water, so feel free to get the comfy open cell or a smooth/lining (inside out) combo - it´s just a matter of technique to do it "easily".

yamamoto smooth outsides are too delicate to be thrown around, heiwa smooth outsides are not.

your suit will last much longer with a nylon outside in eilat´s sun.

2mm is sufficient from 25 upwards (depending on diving style and body fat- add some info maybe). if you want to dive between beginning December and beginning june i´d strongly recommend 3mm.

for comfy and stretch, just ask elois. they will take it into account and sell you a more nice and expensive suit .

hey esom,

im pretty sure about the thickness [2mm] - although im pretty skinny, once im dry, i dont tend to get cold. anyway i have a yamamoto 4mm long john and 5 mm vest [both open cell] for cold days.

about the "get the comfy open cell or a smooth/lining (inside out) combo" - can you explain?

For your exact scenario, I am going to go to aqualand.com and order a 3mm reversible suit with one side lined and the other smoothskin.

a good compromise.

OR... you could just get a nice blue camo speafishing suit that's open-cell inside.

that was blurry, your right. open cell is sticking to the skin and thus keeps it warm + it does not add stiffness- both "comfy points" especially if you don´t mind learning to get in easily.
personally i like the options of smooth/lining so it´s reversible. Although you get in the suit with its smooth side inside only with soap or in the water - again, just technique.

ok so i talked to Elios on the phone [so much easyer than e mail]. for 2mm, the only possible option is this:

Suit 2mm open cell inside / Nylon elastic black outside Neoprene Heiwa soft density, complete of jacket closed with hood incorporated + high waist pants in tailor made Price Euro 190,00

they say that for 2 mm and down only nylon elastic is possible because superelastic etc' is too elastic [too thin].

in your opinion - is nylon elastic good enough? or is it worth moving up to 3mm for upgraded lining on the outside?
 
Yes, nylon is fine. The differences between the various linings is incremental at best. For sturdiness you'll want nylon outside too. Only reasons to avoid it it are:

Streamline (mostly monofin divers)
Warmth in air (nylon wicks heat away on the outside. (probably this would be a good thing for you!)

at 21c you may be happier with 3mil. I start using a 3mil at 18c. At 26c I'm only thinking about sun protection (.5 mil if that)
 
I can advice regarding inner coating.I got my 5mm coated inside with something called nylon super stretch(or so-i dont have the name on my phone now).it is really easy to put on,and doesnt affect elasticity.i'm super happy with this coating.
