I almost forgot I won an Eliossuit in the world champs, but I`ve just gotten my new suit. And in recordtime! The previous times it felt like ages before I got my suit (even if it was delivered as promised:).) This time it took 16 days from the order until I received the package! That`s superfast. And this was a tailormade suit with 2 pairs of custommade gloves and socks. Just excellent!

Anyway... I`ve only tried it on at home, but this seems like a perfect suit for depth, if you need just a little bit of insulation. The fitting was very good and it looks very fast. Of course it has more buoyancy than a swimsuit but I`m guessing less buoyancy than the standard trisuit. That`s up for testing soon:) The suit was easy to put on. Almost like a trisuit but it`s not as tight and the material is alot!! more flexible than on my Apex2. The suit feels very flexible. I`m looking forward to Egypt now:friday

But Elios sponsored to you the suit, or must you pay for it  :D

Ok, I think you got it free, and that's great :)

It was a price, so I didn`t have to pay for it. :) I believe Elios sponsored freeWC09? Anyway...I tested the suit in the pool yesterday and it seemed very nice. As I expected it was less buoyant than my Apex2. Even though one is well used and one is new.
If you want to use this suit for DNF you should specify that you would need a tighter hood and extra tight arms. (around the wrists.) I think this suit is difficult to put on if you`re wet.

That's right, Elios was WC09's sponsor, not yours ;) Nice to hear your tips about the suit. I like a lot Elios's customer service and their open water suits, hope that they have a good future in pool suits too.

And thanx again for your earlier tip about -90% competiton suits in Norway. We got 9 women's and 1 men's top suits (Speedo Fastskin, B70 Nero Comp etc.), and paid a price of 1 suit :friday

B-J did your elios have a nylon lining or not?

Bjarte:
How thick was Your wetsuit ? and was it Daiwabo hard denisty one?
What do You think about smoothskin outside (i believe it's the one You have). It's been told that Yamamoto's freedown has more glide than classic smoothskin used in Daiwabo..

cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt, who told you that Yamamoto's freedown has more glide than classic smoothskin used in Daiwabo? I believe every wetsuit with freedown skin/surface has more glide than smoothskin no matter if it is Heiwa, Daiwabo or Yamamoto.

I don't understand :)

New Freedown in Elios is just coating used outside of some wetsuits (yamamoto/heiwa). I've been told it's SCS coating same as in Orca wetsuit.
On the other hand Daiwabo comes only with classic smoothskin outside. Elios says that new freedown aka supersmootskin/superskin has much better glide than classic smootshkin.

I might be wrong cause communication with Elios is difficult. They jest copy/paste same thing about everything and they don't answer for specific question :head

SCS actually is different from normal smoothskin outer, so they're not completely making it up. It's debatable what kind of performance improvement it will make and whether it's more important than compression & buoyancy differences. the 20% more glide is probably a 20% reduction in surface drag - probably barely noticeable.
