Has anyone used the Elios GOLD coating inside on an elios wetsuit?
i'm just wondering if its worth the extra money [34 Euro]?
Thanks

From Elios:
"Suit gold coating cell inside / Nylon Camouflage Brown/Black/Grey outside neoprene Yamamoto 45"

i have a smoothskin/gold inside - i don't feel any extra warmth and i still need soap to get in .... i do not have the same model without gold inside for a direct comparison though .....

I don't have it on mine and havent used it but I think it's a waste of money - it'll probably peal off after you use it for a bit anyway. Lol

A small percentage will come off with time and wear, which is expected. It "CAN" be put on without conditioner or soap, but is still much easier with the Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner products. Is it worth the extra cost? I think not. It's a too much of a increase to justify the benefit. Unless of course you are a Rich Person and have money to throw around- then Go AHEAD!

Also, not as much of a benefit to a spearfishing suit as it is with straight freediving to deeper depths.

Out of curiosity for anyone who's got one: does it seal on the body thesame way a suit without the coating would?

I've had a number of different suits over the years and my gold coated one is my favorite at the moment. I used to use open-cell suits as I found them to be warmer and cheaper; but, after using them for a few years I started to develop a rash. I tried different suit lubes and it still didn't help. Eventually, I ended up selling off my open-cell suits and replaced them with black shadow lined suits.

This has helped, but it wasn't until I picked up another gold lined suit that I realized how much more comfortable it was on my skin. I find my gold lined suit even less irritating than my black shadow suits. I'm almost to the point where I might sell off the black shadow suits and just keep my gold lined suit. The only thing stopping me is the gold lined suit I have is a stock suit and my other suits are custom.

Having said that, if you don't have any skin allergies to the rubber I think you'll find the open-cell suit to be cheaper, warmer, and grip your skin better. It will be more difficult to put on, but there are different things you can do to make it easier- just use your search button and read through other posts on this site.

Thanks for the feedback guys :)
Jon, I have had a black shadow from elios, but it didnt last very long. hence i'm looking to go back to 'standard' Yamamoto 45 neoprene. its a shame because i found the black shadow to be the warmest suit i've had, even compared to an open cell.
i think i'll go with the open cell... :)
