Elios wetsuit advice.....Jon, Scott, jump in here...

Alright guys, after yesterday's experience, I can justify the expense.....I need a suit, and some softer fins that allow a neoprene sock.

Help me pick one of these things out!! I'm having to abandon my drysuit dreams, so this is going to be my spearfishing winter suit and probably sub-thermocline scuba suit for the wamer months.

The attachment is the measurement sheet with the options listed.....but I need some input.

What material do you guys have? And I don't see pricing anywhere.

I am thinking Ecoline Open Cell / Camouflage Lining (Grey-Green/Brown) 6mm, Farmer-John pants, Closed with hood Jacket. Is this the type of suit you were telling me to look at?

You guys see any problems with this, or any recommendations? My budget is about $400.

Jon, will this thing loose it's efficacy if I drop 10 lbs? (My weight varies through the year).

Medium density Heiwa rubber with opencell inside and Nylon outside- you can go camo if you like on the outside. Go with at least a 5mm suit, but I don't think you'll need to go any thicker than a 6mm as these types of suits are SO much warmer than scuba suits.

Everything else sounds good for what you want to do- farmer john pants and zipperless jacket with attached hood. Don't forget thicker socks and 3-finger mitts.

You can always get bigger fins later on, but a good wetsuit will make more of a difference in diving around here than any fin will.

You basically Email them your requirements & they Email you back with a price.

Works good.

Get Socks & 3-fingered gloves in 5mm as well.

I would get a loading chest pad and knee pads on the suit too (protects the neoprene).

They will usually come with some extra samples of material...From this, one can make a simple "ice mask" for over your exposed face if you want for really cold diving...

I agree I don't have Farmer Johns on any of my suits - except my 3 mil summer suit - but the open in, nylon out option is the way to go for a solid investment. My 5 mil is still going strong with very heavy use.

Just an FYI on the Farmer Johns.

There is a High Pant option that is a bit less constrictive for breath up purposes that some likes. I ordered a farmer john due to my not liking to be cold & I figured where the farmer & my top overlap, I would have a double layer (10 mm), which is on my core.

Personally, I think a farmer john is a bit more constricting, but the extra warmth, for me, out weighs it. I am not one after huge depth. It is all a matter of personal choice.

WOW........I just heard from Elios after my order. Yes, I do have to measure stuff again, and they actually used my "anus" as a landmark for a measurement.

ah yes! the anus measurement- That's a proud moment- Just ask one of your friends if they can give you a hand. you'd think they could come up with a different way to measure that one- but hey - they fit great
