Hey guys:

I would like to buy a custom made wetsuit from elios & was wondering if i would fill out the measurement form using the "imperial " or english like feet & inches instead of the metric standards ,would this be okay.

I asume that elios can accomadate either metric or imperial standards.
Any comments anyone.

I live in the usa and metric is secondary.

Another question that i have i would like to order 45 yam ,smooth outside with the "black smooth coating" inside. in 5 mm. Again i would like any comments if any.
How much? $$$$$$$$$ lol

See ya down below.

A few peeps on this board use Elios suits.
Hopefully they'll chime in on how they perform.
From what I've heard, they are exceptional value in an ultra-high-performance, custom fit freediving suit. :martial
I asked for a quote recently from Eliosub and these were the options they gave me based on my requirments--->

OPTIONS:

1) Suit 5mm Open cell inside / Nylon Black outside Neoprene Ecoline
Price Euro 141,00 (include knee pads and chest pad)
It's a best-seller for spearfishing in shallow waters, very warmth,
aderent to the body, soft and comfortable but for get into must use
always talkum or water-soap.

2) Suit 5mm Titanium coating cell inside / Nylon Black or Green Olive
outside Neoprene Ecoline Price Euro 176,00 (include knee pads and chest
pad)
It's a best-seller for spearfishing in shallow waters, very warmth,
aderent to the body, soft and comfortable but more easy to get into.

3) Suit 5mm Open cell inside / Nylon Black outside Neoprene Heiwa Price
Euro 170,00 (include knee pads and chest pad)
It's a classic freediving suit for deep divings, very warmth, aderent to
the body, soft and comfortable but for get into must use always talkum
or water-soap.

4) New Suit 5mm Open cell inside / Kanoko elastic Black outside Neoprene
Heiwa Price Euro 195,00 (include knee pads and chest pad)
It's just arrived, very warmth, very very stretchable, aderent to the
body, super-soft and more resistant with Kanoko reinforced lining
outside but for get into must use always talkum or water-soap.

5) Suit 5mm Open cell inside / Nylon Idrorepellent (Fast Dry) Black
outside Neoprene Heiwa Price Euro 205,00 (include knee pads and chest
pad)
It's a good alternative to the smoothskin, fast-dry out the water like
smooth, but durable with lining, very warmth, aderent to the body, soft
and comfortable but for get into must use always talkum or water-soap.

I'm definitely going with an Elios custom next summer.

I have got the Open cell/Smoothskin Neoprene Heiwa custom suit and it is very good. If you are going to do a lot of recreational diving, it is better to get a nylon coating on the outside as this is much more resistant to tearing. The open cell inside is MUCH warmer than a conventional suit!

why don´t you send them an email with your questions? they have always been very helpful with my orders.

Yeah, send them an email, the guys at Eliossub are fantastic :) but you can convert inches to centimetres by multiplying inches by 2.54 if you dont have a metric tape measure (EG 12" x 2.54 = 30.48 cm)

Ihave a black shadow 5mm and a 3mm 'off the shelf' suit from elios. The black shadow suit is tremendously warm - and dry almost the instant you take it off. The 3mm has a thermic plush lining - is very easy on and off - has a separate hood and is also quite warm. They took my measurements and obviously modified the suit - which fits perfectly. I have used it for up to an hour and a half when the surface temp was 47f and have used it several times a week since early June of this year.
Definitely talk with them - they are extremely helpful. Tell them the kind of diving you do and they'll help you pick the suit.

I just used a metric tape measure - but there are plenty of online converters.

I think it is better to use metric measurements if possible, because in continental Europe metric is standard.

Hi guys:

I want to thank you all for taking the time to answer.

Yes, i can get a hold of a metric tape in which i will do so.

I now can see that the metric sys. is so much better than the english standard.

I checked with my dive buddy & he can give me a hand with metric.

For spearo & rock hugging around shore i have a picasso 5 mill "stock" shadow suit but for boat diving & long distant swimming all year "water temp" permitting, i wanted something warm & drys fast.
I know yam # 45 is excellent for warmth but very fragile .

I pretty much want smooth outside for speed & was wondering the difference between gold & black coating inside for ease of donning, warmth, during cold "air temp." weather.

Any advice comment on material ect, + ordering from elios . I would love to read them.

see ya down below.

My black shadow suit has a silver looking coating called 'new black' or something. It is supposed to be very slippery as coatings go. I can get the bottoms on dry but the top requires hair conditioner. I think with open cell, regardless of coating, you should count on using lube. As mentioned - it is barely wet on the surface (interior) when you take it off and does not retain odor.

I would also get some kind of fabric on the outside for durability - but that's me. My black shadow suit - as mentioned - is extremely warm. I've used it at 37f with no hint of cold - though I was only in about an hour.

Just email with Elios (they seem to only check once a week or so), make your decision - get the measurements right and settle in to wait for a month or so while they build it - it's worth the wait.

i ordered my elios suit recently. Its yet to come :) . Its a 3mm opencell inside smooth outside olive green model. Its high density heiwa neoprene. They highly suggested it for deep spearfisihing. Since its less copmresable becasue of the high density neoprene there will less bouancy change and better underwater thermal isolation which is exceptionally good for termoclines. Better while ascent too :)

i would only consider a smooth outside suit for performance diving even though i haven´t heard any statement yet about how much further a smooth outside should get you. any ideas anyone?
for durability i vouch for super stretch nylon outside. my 5mm suit is 3 years old now, a bit compressed of course, but otherwise in mint condition. i did order a smooth skin suit (1,5 mm) but with nylon inside. that definitely helps a lot in avoiding rips and the lesser insulation doesn´t bother me since i don´t go cruising with it for 2 hours anyway.
