Hello all

I am looking for some good equalixation excercises to do in my local pool (with a buddy of course) and it should be said my local pool has been fine in the past with working on things in the deep end as long as it doesn't involve extended breath hold.

My issues are that when I am between 20 to 25 meters I have a hard time finding the air to equalize. Hard time bringing it up, hard time holding on to it, starting with the right amount in my mouth, etc etc, not exactly sure why I am failing at 20 to 25 but I do know that when I do a dive on a first level exhalation at the pool that I can simulate some of the same sensations and difficulties that I am having at depth.

So, what excercises do you know of for the pool that could help.

Thanks in advance, Rick

Practicing in the pool, head down, empty lung, head stand on the bottom, equalize, bring air back up, use frenzel technique to equalize.
Try doing hands free equalization using frenzel.

As usual, be careful when doing empty lung training, even in the pool. Easy to get a lung squeeze even in shallow depths, especially if your doing some unfamiliar things.

Pool training may help but the best thing might be to do a lot of FRC dives the next time you are in open water. You can do a lot of repetitions without tiring, especially if you do FIM and focus only on your equalisation. Same warning of course as above, be careful not to squeeze yourself. Just go up and down slowly and really focus on what happens when you run out of air, is it inflexibility, air leaking out or do you need to improve your frenzel etc.
