Hey guys every once in a while whether im diving in 8ft or 50ft of water my one ear wont equalize or something and i feel pressure and everything starts spinning.I just lay on the surface for a min and gather my senses lol.
what is this and what can i do?
thanks

Your sense of balance comes from your inner ear which is why you could feel dizzy and feel like everything is spinning around. It could be that your not equalizing properly. I'm no expert though.

in this case i always abort the dive immediately; i try to equalize harder, if not better in the period of 10 seconds, i surface and give the ear some time to become functioning again

This happens to me from time to time aswell, If one ear doesnt equalize, I just return to the surface and pressurize and negative pressurize my ears a few times and then it works again.

I usually try and re equalize but sometimes the air gets like trapped it took me a couple minutes of going up n down to equalize my ear one time then when it popped it sounded like someone let the air out of a balloon.

Found this for you and looked it up in one of my med books, it may point you in the right direction. RWR can heal itself without surgery,
"Round window rupture (RWR) is caused by trying to equalize forcefully during descent. If the Eustachian tube is blocked, the middle ear pressure will be below ambient and the large pressure difference can tear the round window. When the round window tears, fluid from the inner ear leaks into the middle ear, hearing is lost, vertigo occurs and hissing or buzzing is heard constantly."
hope it helped, I'm just a Corpsman not a doctor so this isn't a diagnosis.

I just had this problem again this morning. I went down to 25 ft normally, but on the way up I did a full monofin stroke, apparently this was too fast... Got to surface and saw rotating earth again... Ear felt full for half hour, but *phew* no damage done.

What is the proper speed of surfacing, exactly? Is following exhaled bubble safe enough? Ideas?
