I have problems right from the start.I go down about 5' and my ears pop,I head back up and I hear a zipping sound and when I reach the surface air exits my ears .I have pain but it goes away shortly.I also have seriuos pain when I travel by plane(ears feel like they are going to explode)Went to a ENT every thing O.K. Is this an equalization problem or something more serious. He told me to take sudafed and nasal spray before I fly, should I try the same when I go Diving.

You can use it but you shouldn't become depended on it. Some diving doctors feel it is more problem of technique. Are you equalizing at the surface? How does it feel when you equalize? The problem may be that you aren't equalizing on the surface and not equalizing on the descent enough. Could also be your equalization technique. Could you describe it for us? Please also describe the feeling you get when attempting to equalize.

I am not sure if I am even doing it right on the surface. What should it actually feel like when I do equalize.Large pop or small in my ears.I didn't realize that even at the surface you need to equalize,I thiught you had to be kind of deep to start equalizing.I printed out the frenzal tech. by Eric to give it a try.Should I try this on the plane also when I fly.Like I sais before I have always had this issue with my ears, hopefuly it is the tech. not my ears and I will be able to go deeper and go off my brothers boat. That would be kick a#*
