I'm going to sell my 2 AB Biller Padauk guns to try and buy a Euro style railgun and need your help on picking out a brand and size. I live in the Fl Keys and spear the reef line in 25-50 ft of water, the vizability is usually great and there is lots of coral to hunt around; what size and brand of railgun do you think would suit those conditions best. I was thinking that a 100-110cm size whould be best, what do you guys think? I've been looking at RA, Omer, Sporasub, Picasso, Esclapez, and Rabitech. Which of these brands to you guys use and what size. I'd really like to hear from someone in South Florida or the Keys. Thanks for your help.

I think brand is really a matter of personal preference. All the guns you listed are high quality effective hunting weapons. Know, however that a railgun implies that there is a rail incorperated into the barrel of the gun. Examples are the RA, rabbitech, and picasso pacific cantury. Some of the other guns listed are simply euroguns.

If you want a true railgun, I like the RA or rabbitech. There have been countless arguements as to which one is better, but i really think they are both fine spearguns.

If you are looking to save a few dollars, look at the picasso century. You can get the carbon model for about $200 and the aluminum model for even less.

The most important thing is lenght. I used to hunt in South Florida, and would recommend the 110 for the reefs. A 120 railgun with twin 16mm bands would also be a great choice, and it would also allow you moderate bluewater capabilities. I wouldn't go after tuna with one, but would definitely try finding a weedline and trying your luck with some dolphin.

I have a RA 110 Saracen the carbon model. It is a sweet gun but I have had some accuracy problems. The early RA carbons were apparently made a bit light and shot high but the new models have eliminated this problem. 110 is a good size for reef and if I were to buy a new gun it would be a RA carbon 110 with the new vecta handle.
