I have not seen yet explicit announcements for this comp, so here it is:

Europe Evolution Cup 2010

This is the re-edition of the great one in 2008 which saw mixed CMAS and AIDA participation, and the 250m DYN WR by Alexei. Last year the event did not include AIDA for some glitch, but this year it does again. On the web page you can find links to documents in English detailing costs, rules, accomodation. Last but not least, the winners get 1,000 Eur... everyone else is guaranteed to have a good time with a great organization which includes 50m olympic pool, 25 warm pool, all kinds of U/W cameras and streaming video, and a package with hotel just outside the pool. Lignano is not too far from Venice. Dates are October 8-10.

Well that's just terrible, the dates are the same for EvolutionCup and CMAS Euro championship this year, I hope this is some kind of mistake and that it will be fixed... not only that I can't be there to try to win it 3th time in a row... But no one from CMAS will be there coz everyone that any good will be in Tenerife on Euro 2010...

I can't speak for the organizers, but I don't think it's a mistake or that it can be fixed... knowing them, I think they have been working at this for a long time.
Anyway, as far as I can see in the announcement, there will be no parallel CMAS at EEC this year, so no direct conflict. If you had wanted to take part, you would have had to wear your AIDA hat or be part of a team in the Apnea Academy Trophy.

or be part of a team in the Apnea Academy Trophy.
hi Goran,
i can offer you a seat in my team if you want, even if your performances suck a bit for us...blackeye:blackeye

...jokin'... hope to see you there!!!

I have no problem to wear AIDA hat, or be in AAT believe me, I wear the hat every year on couple of competitions, but it is not the hat problem this time, it is time and place problem, and if there is not some kind of teleport device between Tenerife an Lignano, I can not physically be there no mater how I want it and for which team I want to compete... And no can anyone else.. Apnea Academy works under FIPSAS as far I know, and they are part of CMAS so...

Apnea Academy does not work under fipsas or cmas or aida, it work for itself as it is an association dedicated to teaching freediving AND the Apnea Academy Trophy is a totally independent event, it only happens to be in the very same days

i'll post something soon for more detail about the AAT

It is getting closer to the competition.....some interesting names are confirmed, looks like it will become a nice competition!!!!

I hope to see a lot of you there.....the organisers confirmed 2 big names! Herbert Nitsch and Frederic Sessa!!!!

Grtzzzz Pim

Will Herb surprise us with something unexpected? Like he did on that static record of his

let us hope so.....

the organizer is hoping on more athletes as it will be on 'AIR' so the bigger the better. I really liked the atmosphere when I judged there last time and am sure it will be again....

Lot's of 'extras' during the 3 days so make sure your there

Grtzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Pim

ps, pity you can't be there Goran!!! Guess all organizers/organisations need to check eachother calendars better next year :martial

we will, as I be judging there :blackeye .....

I'm in Europe, but leaving a few days before. If the dates were announced before I booked my tickets...

Pity...! my post was over 2 months in advance of the comp but I remember seeing it on the AIDA calendar for quite some time before that.
If you are around, the weekend before (Oct 2) there is a quite nice competition in Wiesbaden near Frankfurt, the list is still open ;-) and it seems to me there are going to be top athletes.

NZ means plans well in advance. I booked it all in April or May and checked official & unofficial calendars for comps around the right dates. I leave on the 2nd after Triple Depth, which was on the calendar nice and early.

In fairness they've given enough warning for the Europeans, it's just us at the other end of the world who need such advance dates.

Miracles happen! For the first time ever, I've got the results just after completing the competition (thanks to Kimmo Lahtinen)! Mostly I get them weeks later (if at all).

So I could put the results into the ranking - you can look at them here:

APNEA.cz - Ranking

Well, the FIPSAS part is not finished yet (we have to wait whether I get the results as quick too), but the AIDA results should be complete (I believe at least)

EDIT: ah, I see some import erros - hold on while I am fixing them
EDIT 2: OK, it is done

Hi all!!
great experience, including my first BO ever... damn'it :head:head:head

GREAT Nicolas Guerry, GREAT static and GREAT 1st place in the overall ranking, beating Fred Sessa for few points

GREAT Gaspare Battaglia, second place STA and third place overall

GREAT Ilaria Bonin, who decided to participate the entire competition after her first place in DNF, then winning the STA comp and the overall ranking

GREAT organization by Apnea Evolution and Apnea Academy Competition, especially Alessandro Vergendo, Rosarita Gagliardi and their wonderful staff

More info on the comp and the Apnea Academy Trophy coming soon (GREAT time too, enough for me and my team, at least... )

entire video coverage of the event is also coming soon on Evolutionchannel (and has been live during the comps, i hope some of you could have seen it)

Was Fred just being polite and letting me hold the DYN record a bit longer?

very very polite indeed
i guess he was more interested in the prize (which he lost anyway) and did a secure 205m dive

Heh, and Fred lost that price with 5 sec too short static

But here is little more info about that competition if somebody is interested:

- Pictures: http://freediving.pictures.fi/kuvat/2010/10+Lignano+Apnea+Evolution/
- The main price was 1000 euros / sex (so Fred lost that sum and I guess he will not make this same mistake again
- Results: http://db.tt/sYA56z4

I was judging there with Marcello Matteis. That competition was one of the best organized competitions where I have been judging and I really enjoyed the atmosphere!

br,

- kimmo

A wonderful competition!
Great organization by apnea evolution and the staff!
I enjoyed the AIDA competition: some rules are different to the cmas competition that I used played, the judge were very meticoluos but clear and kind too!
The atmosphere was quiete and relaxed and I was glad for this.
And now....work in progress for the next competition!
