I have an old omer Excalibur kevlar the one with the green barrel, I want to install a hammer head muzzle on it, does any one knows the Barrel diameter, the reason I am asking is currently I am in Alaska and the gun is in Brazil so there is no easy what to check it.

Eh, Strangelove,
Just buy it and pray ; )
Let epoxy do the rest. I have some you can take with you.

I remember that forum member Mattedhead installed a HH muzzle on an Omer Master Competition (carbon/kevlar), so I'm quite sure you can do that too, because the Master Comp came with the same standard muzzle of the Excalibur.
I just warn you that Matt reported he had to do a little sandpaper and dremel work to make them fit together, but nothing too difficult he said.
Hope this helps.

Try emailing them, they will know which one you need, I'm almost 100% sure you need the 25mm. The aluminium Excalibur was a O/D 28mm barrel so I can't imagine that the carbon version was fatter but I'm not sure. Do you have a track on the gun? If not you will need to get one of the Omer stick on ones too

Pastor

Thanks I don't have track on that gun, I've tried to email them but no response so far. But if I go with 25 mm I can always epoxy like hteas mentioned.

Yeah but if you epoxy it you will loose the flexibility of the O ring seal. I'm not sure if epoxy is flexible enough to handle the pull from the bands without loosing its bond or even if it is too flexible and might deform all together. If it was me I'd wait until I knew for sure. The Omer website says that the standard aluminium barrel is 25mm bore, Spaghetti are they the same do you know?

My Excalibur Carbon has external diameter 28mm and a wall thickness of 1,5mm. I assume that the hole is 26,5mm.
I'm just guessing, but I guess that the HH size A (smaller plug) is intended for barrels with thicker walls (Aimrite, Rabitech) and the B size (fatter plug) is for skinnier barrels like the Omer's.
I'm just guessing, but this makes sense to logics...
If it was for me, I'd get the fat type: you can always use sandpaper to scracth off some material if too big, while you can't add material to make the slim one fatter...epoxy is just a glue, not solid stuff...
However: try to send a message to Mattedhead through Deeperblue or Spearboard. He's a great guy and no doubt he'll help.

Just found this

If the carbon barrel is exactly 25mm ID then it explains why Matt had to ease the the fit a little. It seems to confirm the 25mm muzzle

I have the green kevlar excalibur but it is currrently being 'looked after' by Old Man Dave in Guernsey. Perhaps you can PM him for measurements.

It has a 28mm external dia - the 2X1.5 wall thickness making 3mm so internal dia is 25mm, same as my master. but please dont take my word for it and contact Omer. the alloy walls are thinner and therfore the 25.6mm

Never Spaghetti my friend, just noticed a slip in thought, and found this info also just to throw a spanner in the works LOL.

carbon speargun features a 1.75mm thick carbon fiber barrel for lenghts up to 100cm and 1.85mm for longer guns.

SORRY.

Thank all you again, I have email Omer, no responce from them so this info is the best I've got, I think the sporasub black viper has also an internal around 25 mm diammeter as well. Correct Spaghetti ?

I finally received a reply from hammerhead

25 mm for the omer
28 mm for the sporasub

Hi All~

Sorry I just came across this thread, hopefully years of installing muzzles on all different types of Omer spearguns can shed some light on this and assist.

REEF B - REEF B as well as the HHEAD - B (with elevator bar) are designed to fit 28 mm OD with 1 mm wall thickness barrels such as standard aluminum Omer Excalibur Beuchat Mundial. They also fit 30 mm OD barrels with 2.0 mm wall thickness these are primarily carbon fibre guns with thicker wall such as the Rabitech, Aimrite, and others.

REEF A- Are designed to fit 30 mm OD barrels with a 1.5 mm wall making them an ideal mod for Rob Allens and Picasso spearguns. In addition they also fit the Sporasub models, eventhough Sporasun has a 28 mm OD they have a thin wall thickness of about 0.5 mm requiring a large base for installation.

For more information on the strength of these muzzles you can watch this youtube infomercial

+Caution because these muzzles are hand cast polyuurethanes with glass frit and UV stabilizers they may have slight amounts of varience this can easily be overcome by sanding (the material sands very well) or by potting a small amount of epoxy or silicone.

I am sorry the bring back this thread, but just to put some closure to it, here is my black viper with the HH muzzle and one 20 mm RA band. The gun shot pretty well, but it took me a little longer to load, I wish the pin on the top of the muzzle had a little curve on it, that would prevent the line escaping from it.

The installation was straight forward, I've made sure to plug the barrel (it was leaking before any way), I've also used silicone instead of epoxy.

One more modification I have on this black viper is the universal omer reel instead of the regular sporasub reel.

This gun is 11 years old, besides breaking bands (my fault), it never broke or gave any problems.

BTW this is my blue fish killer !

The Excalibur look and shoot really well, I forgot to take a picture of it !

Omer in italy is always very fast to answer, but you always can see and look on some omer catalogue were they have pdf on technical instructions on the guns.
Regarding the epoxy, epoxy usualy doesn´t like a lot of plastic of th head
